..and moving on with their program as ditching their season. No more than us moving Quincy Carter into a starting role early or like the Gints did with Manning last year.
When you have alot invested in a young QB, you have to find out quickly what he can handle and if the players around him compliment his strengths or magnify his weaknesses because you need to know what is going to be needed in the next off-season and draft.
And like Manning with the Gints last year, he got better as the year rolled on.
So I'd role the dice, too, if we had Leinhart.
Wish we did have him.
I still think Romo is not our future starter and that he has serious limits in his game throwing the ball and will run into trouble once he's scouted by the other teams.
We have to stop basing our future at QB with longshots and retreads. Romo is a huge longshot. In the end, he'll be below average and not of top QB caliber.
I've watched the Cowboys for 40 years and the only teams that were successful were with pure QB's drafted high and groomed for the position. Roger Staubach was drafted low, but had he not gone into the Navy, we'd have been a #1 top 3 pick his senior year. Meredith was a #1 pick, Morton a #1 pick, Troy a #1 pick, Danny White was like a 2nd or 3rd round pick I believe.
The times where we had other QB's like Hogeboom under Landry and others after Troy are a testimony to the longstanding quagmire a team will endure if a top QB isn't found and installed.
But a guy like Leinhart can and will dominate games with his arm and be a solid future star.
We'll see..but Denny Greene knows QB's. I'd trust in his decisions.
