Per Tony Pauline fastest riser in the 1st round is Mike Evans

A bit of a mistake IMO, but teams get obsessed about "size". The same reason Evans might go top 5-6 is why Kelvin Benjamin will get overdrafted.

Still think he is a top WR, perhaps even top 10. But.

Do you think there's any chance he leapfrogs Watkins and is the first WR taken?

He absolutely could be the #1 WR taken. It's a matter of "flavor," or personal preference when 2 guys are evaluated so similarly. I'd personally go with Watkins ahead of Evans, but for a team that doesn't have that Dez-like, big, powerful mismatch WR... not at all a crazy proposition.

It's also become a real possibility that a 3rd WR (Odell Beckham Jr.) is off the board by our pick as well.

It would be great if Beckham got picked before 16. That pushes somebody down.

Right. On the flip side, I see Beckham as the type of guy a team would be motivated to jump for (NY Jets, SF). But those trade down opportunities are so speculative that I'd rather root for the guy to be off the board and push someone down to us. There's no use trying to guess which teams might trade up for which players... who would've thought Eric Reid being on the board at #18 last year would have scored us a trade down opportunity?

The Buccaneers supposedly like him better. If Watkins does not go before him to a team like the Rams, Browns or Raiders it is a good possibility. Apparently the Bucs want to have two big outside WRs like they had in Chicago for McCown.

Agree it is silly to call him a fast riser, no one would be shocked if he went about anywhere in the 5 to 10 range.
