Perfect Offseason?

Dak tag and trade
Draft QB
Two more OL, OG and OT , vía draft or FA
Run the football and
Build some defense, get another or two draft picks and get 6 new defensive guys, and one or two splash signing
This is where I am.

I am over Todd France and Dak, if I am Jerry and Stephen I am telling them if we don't get a long-term deal done you are on the market. I am not paying Dak near what Mahomes makes period, but especially not on a 3 year structure on what is reported to be almost fully guaranteed.
Mahomes is going to average 45 million over a 10-year span giving the Chiefs a ton of cap flexibility.
Dak 3 years 44/yr gives next to little cap flexibility and you couldn't even restructure money while utilizing his 3-year contract.

Dak has allowed France to overplay their hand, and the Cowboys need to move on.

If I am Jerry my final offer is 5 years 41/yr with 123 million fully guaranteed. Don't want it, go Demarco Murray yourself.

In an attempt to move this board past the Dak Prescott debate, which I realize is imposible but don’t blame me for trying, what would be your dream offseason?

Of course, Dak is a part of that, but give me who you’d like to see starting for the team in September.

Who is your NFC championship team squad?

QB: Dak Prescott*
(Resigned to a team friendly deal)
RB: Ezekiel Elliott
WR: Amari Cooper
WR: CeeDee Lamb
WR: Michael Gallup
TE: Jonnu Smith*
(Signed in FA. Would love this move)
OT: Tyron Smith
OG: Zack Martin
C; Tyler Biadasz
OG: Connor Williams
OT: La’el Collins

DE: DeMarcus Lawrence
DT: Neville Gallimore
DT: Daviyon Nixon**
DE: Randy Gregory
LB: Jaylon Smith
LB: Leighton Vander Esch
LB: Micah Parsons**
CB: Trevon Diggs
FS: Cody Davis*
SS: Donavon Wilson:
CB: Chidobe Awuzie*

K: Greg Zeurlein
P: Hunter Niswander

*Free Agent
** Draft

Thoughts?
why sign a TE when Schultz out performed him and we have Jarwin. that one move made zero sense. is signing him going to make this offense much better? how much better? compared to spending that money on defense and perhaps get a DT....I am not sold on Gallimore. he flashed a few things here and there, but he is more like a rotational guy than anything else....

It has to start with Dak, unfortunately.

For a perfect season, thy sign Dak to a long term deal, I mean like 8 years or more with the first 2 years of the deal being extremely CAP friendly.

Then they use their CAP space to sign Dalvin Tomlinson or Sheldon Rankins and one of their FA CB, preferably Awuzie.

Then, they draft a top CB, like Farley, then a top safety, a LB, OT/OG, CBs for depth along with a RB, and a legitimate 4.3 WR.

I am not really ready to pick the draft players yet as I am still doing my homework on the top prospects. I want to see the workout results too.

What about the worst case scenario?

Dak refuses to make a deal.
The top CBs are gone at 10 and Dallas picks an Edge rusher.
No free agents to fix the defense.
Then Tyron retires.
Collins is unable to play because of his hip and must retire as well.

Come to think of it, it seems the worst off-season is way worse then any good offseason I can contemplate!

No such thing as a perfect offseason where Jones family remain as owners.

The offense looks ok, it “could” get us there but the defense still looks lacking big time. The defense only has one way to go from last year but I don’t think there’s enough they can change in one off season for this team to do something they haven’t done in ~25 years which is make a conference championship.

The offense has never been the problem, not recently at least, and there’s no reason to think they won’t be another top 5-10 offense this season barring a plethora of injuries again.

Still have serious doubts about MM as well and last year only enhanced those doubts.
They’ve had the #1 offense the last 2 years when Dak is healthy. Just need to get lucky in the draft for some defense and maybe a couple FA’s and the defense can be good enough. We’re not that far off as you want to believe.

Parsons scares me more than any other player in this draft. PASS!
