I just heard on ESPN that the Dolphins went undefeated when Griese went down in game 5 of the season. Earl Morral stepped in and continued to win.
He played from Game 5 until AFC title game where he struggles and Griese went back in.

My question is: Do you think that being that Morral came in Game 5 he changed and confused teams enough to help the Dolphins keep the winning streak alive?

ie. "not enough film on the guy" LOL - even though he played for Shula earlier in Baltimore.

I think it showed how complete the team was.

Also, it shows that a QB wasn't the main focus of the offense...it was Larry Csonka.

But still....... focus or not.... UNDEFEATED.....

.396 was the combined winning percentage of the teams the Dolphins played in 1972. .396 !!!!

It is the single worst winning percentage that any team EVER in the HISTORY of the NFL has played against. Think about that for a second.

Give them thier credit, they went 17-0, but I'm not sure many superbowl teams couldn't achieve that record had they faced such a ridiculous group of losers to play against all year.

.396

They had some very close games against some pretty sad teams as well. I hate to say it, but the pats have been much more impressive. Against tougher opponents too.

In the regular season, but the play-offs, the teams they beat were pretty good. And look at the division the Patriots are playing in. Miami may go 0-16, and the Jets have won what?

Who?

They have two teams that are pretty much the cellar dwellers of the division. They have 4 games against the absolute worst in the NFL, i.e. tyhe Jets and Miami. They played at San Diego, when San Diego was dread awful. Buffalo in the beginning of the year was pathetic. Cincinatti is awful.

The question was about the QB and what affect it had...my answer was none...it was Larry Csonka and I'll add defense.

Never said they weren't focused...Just that the focus of their offense wasn't the QB.

I want them to go winless and the Pats to go undefeated during the regular season only to lose the SB to a one loss team. (Us)

Dolphins I believe only beat one team with a winning record in regular season. This Pats team is much more dominant, but they have 5 more wins to go to equal what Dolphins did in 1972.

It's pretty much consensus that after the Patriots, the best remaining teams are the Colts, Cowboys, Packers and Steelers in no particular order. By the end of the year, the Patriots will have taken on three out of the four, facing the Cowboys and Colts on the road. I don't think there is any other team that faced 3 out of the top 5 teams. If the Patriots go undefeated, they will have taken on all challengers.
