Chris Berman just said something that I was completely unaware of and decided to look it up. The Oakland Raiders were 6-0 against their AFC West Division rivals.

Week 5...defeated the Chargers, 35-27
Week 7...defeated the Broncos, 59-14
Week 9...defeated the Chiefs in OT, 23-20
Week 13...defeated the Chargers, 28-13
Week 15...defeated the Broncos, 39-23
Week 17...defeated the Chiefs, 31-10

They were 3rd in the AFC West despite that Division sweep. Their other 2 wins...Rams and Seahawks, both at home.

That's gotta suck.

It's also interesting in that San Diego and Kansas City were actually pretty good teams.

It is truly amazing...one team goes 6-0 in the division and another team in the same division has the #1ranked offense AND the #1 ranked defense...AND neither team made the playoffs, let alone won the division.

That is crazy.

Sweeping your division and coming in 3rd place.

That sucks if your a Raider fan.

They were starting to look like a decent football team. If they had a decent QB they might've had a chance. They weren't your same old Raiders anymore.

So what does Al do? Fires his coach. Classic.

sweeping your division.......

and they fire the HC

Someone posted something like this in the NFL zone a week or so ago...IIRC, it's also the first time in modern NFL history a team has swept their division and not made the playoffs.

This is the most surprising thing, to me.

For both the Raiders and the Chargers to have such success on certain levels and to be watching from home.

So, at what point does the league step in and tell Al he has to get a psych evaluation or step down? Seriously, is there a system in place for the possibility that an owner goes completely senile? Because anybody who has watched the Raiders in the last decade can tell that Al is losing it.

I'm not a fan of much of anything Raiders, but Cable would be interesting as an offensive assistant (especially along the O-line).

I know it won't happen, but as long as you can keep him from punching someone out (haha), I'd like to have someone with his fire leading the charge on the line.

Yes, I heard them say that last week.

Tells me Kansas City won't be around long in the playoffs.

Wow... that is... wow...

sweeping your division but finishing in third place in that division, that is certainly interesting to think about.

And they fired their head coach.... major stupid move if you ask me.

Well he had a fair amount of baggage from all the domestic problems (punching a coach would fit right into the Raider mode) but it does look like Dead Man Walking has lost it.

actually KC is very overrated. they did not beat a team with a winning record the entire year.

Yeah, I can't decide which is more weird, the 6-0 or having the #1 offense and defense without making the playoffs.

...while the 7-9 Seahawks are hosting a playoff game.

I'll be shocked if they beat Baltimore tomorrow. Even the locals are keeping a low key approach.
