Disagree.

$8 million per year for a part timer who isn't good against the run is way overpaying.

Glad to see someone else is doing it and not us.
he had just as many pressures as Suggs had at OLB in 1/3 the snaps. And had over half the sacks suggs did too.

Moot point. He's not coming here. But I am sorry for your disappointment. It's always tough to lose a pet cat.

I'll have my bummer moment when we don't get Greg Hardy.

What, do tell, does this mean for RATliff? :) Come on, Jay. Do your mentoring thing and take Pernell McPhee under your wing.

Mcphee will be a OLB for the bears. Makes zero sense to put this guy as a 5tech. You dont use him to eat up blocks, you use him to get after the QB

A 280-lb OLB? I would hate to see him trying to cover any TE/RB/FB on a pass play. Can't play the run well. Can't cover. One-trick ponies get exposed pretty quickly in the NFL.

I'd argue it is a lot easier to accumulate pressures when you're doing it rested as a specialist versus as a 3-down player like Suggs is, and also it's a lot easier when you're getting #2 rusher attention while teams are focused on blocking Suggs. Bottom line is it's never a good idea to pay big bucks in free agency for someone to do something they've never done before. McPhee going from a part time 3-4 OLBer is no sure thing to succeed as a full time 4-3 defensive end.

Bears are switching to a 3-4 this year.

only this year, before that spent most of his time o the line, but the ravens took timmy j in the drafy and moved mcphee to olb.
i think with his experience playing both roles he couldve been a solid lde for us but hey ho plenty of talent left in the pot

I would have liked McPhee but not the end of the world...the $ is actually fairly encouraging though. A guy like Brandon Graham has to get less right? 5/35 with $12 guaranteed sounds like a good deal to me.

Maybe he will be one of the rare ones that Leave that Ravens D for big money and wind up doing well elsewhere.
