Personnel... What Personnel?

I am not Belichek's biggest fan, but the one thing I have always admired about BB is how he seems to get his OC's to buy into the concept of playing the personnel they have. Whether it would be finding a role for a dwarf running back no one wanted in Woodhead, having the foresight in drafting two athletic TE's when most teams barely paid attention to the position anymore or getting the most out of an average talent like Deion Branch. The Patriots always seem to know how to use the personnel they have and use them in spots they will succeed in.
Which bring us to the Cowboys.
James Hanna is still on the team. Yup, I know because his name comes up on Dc.com when you open up the roster page. I had to check because I seem to remember him in the first game against the Giants, catching one ball in the flat and out-running the LB to the sideline for a ten yard gain. That guy who flashed mismatch ability by that one impressive play has been targeted exactly once since and I am honestly not even sure he was he even dressed last night?

I just don't understand this HC/OC's lack of creativity to go along with his epic stubborness. I respect the hell out of Witten, but Hanna offers something the starting TE does not, speed and YAC. Try to take a page out of your DC's book and incorporate all of your talent....it can't get any worse.

Hanna was out there for a couple plays, but ended up blocking. I would love to use Hanna's speed and size and create a mismatch :).

An occasional mismatch would be nice.

Liking getting your WR1 on the opposing team's CB4?

(Roddy White matched up on Orlando Scandrick)?

No, that would suck -- why would you want to do that? :p:

Jason knows what a weapon he has and can call the right play for to get the mismatch you are talking about. He had it ready for the 1st Giant game.

Here is an excerpt from Jason's game call note sheet:

#7: Call slant to Dez when seeing Cover 3 looks.
#8: Screen Play to Felix when seeing Heavy Blitzing.
#9: Use Hanna and 22 for wheel route on SAM.

What happens however, is that Jason pees himself trying to figure out wether he should kick or receive. After the 1st offensive series doesnt score he then panics and forgets to look at the rest of his game plan while curled up in the fetal position mumbling "more shotgun".

Agreed, he is mortified to do anything creative with this offense. Newsflash coach-this team isn't disciplined, nor talented enough to just line up and run the same plays over and over like they did in the 90's.

I think it's the other way around. I think Belichick changes his personnel to find what type of offense they want to run.
