Say the front office decides to bring the band back next season, truly what is still needed to make this defense truly elite?

-1 Stud Interior Lineman who can become a game wrecker. No, there aren't many Aaron Donald's, but more like a Kenny Clark type. A force against the run and a pocket pusher against the pass. A true 3 down defender. Is there any similar prospects in this year's class? I believe both Mathis/Jones with some development fit best.

-3 other positions need better role players:

  • Linebacker-more of a 2 down backer who is a good downhill run defender
  • Free Safety who has range and is a strong tackler
  • Slot Corner-when you see your slot corner getting benched in a meaningful game it suggests they need a better option for the position.
Now these other secondary needs can also be addressed via fa.

Now a player like Daxton Hill could be like a Tyrann Mathieu, more of a slot corner who can play any position within the secondary. Jalen Pitre is another safety prospect who can play multiple roles within the secondary. Both players maybe undersized, but they will not be afraid to tackle anyone. Brisker is also a very good safety prospect, one with better size.

What are some later linebackers who can fill that 2 down Linebacker need that Lve played last season?

Darrian Beavers, Damone Clark, Leo Chenal

VERY GOOD TAKES!!!!!!!

I think many valid points but doubt most of this happens. In fact I predict they try and fix offense and the defense takes a step back.
