I can see Dallas losing the season opener, and still finish the season 9-7.

I do not think this is an offense that is going to dominate anybody (except for Jacksonville's backups), yet they can be efficient and productive.

This defense is young and will make a lot of mistakes and give up big plays. Yet they will also chase guys down, make big hits and other big plays.

I think Bledsoe could finish out his contract here, either starting or as a backup. But that doesn't matter for this season. Bledsoe will start all season. Romo does NOT look like a better QB than bledsoe...that's just silly.

I also predict there will wailing and gnashing of teeth all season long about the "QB situation", nitpicking of the starter there and at other positions (WR most noticeably), and basically, all sorts of unpleasantness here on the forum, mixed in with a probably unhealthy dose of unrealistic giddiness.

However I say this and I will put money on it: It will be a hell of a lot less painful to watch the Cowboys this year than it was last year. We won't want to stop watching every game at halftime like you wanted to last year.

First of all it is hard to say just how good our Offense will be. True that the Jags held out a couple of starters but they did NOT start the game with only their 2nd string. They held out a couple of select players. And regardless of who did or did not play for the Jags; our offense looked sharp. The timing was good, Bledsoe looked comfortable and was throwing well, and the whole team seemed to be on the same page. This has not happened for our first stringers before in this preseason even against other teams 2nd stringers. So that is encouraging.

You are absolutely correct about the defense and their inexperience and their talent. The best part is that they will only get better so when we make the playoffs they should have worked out most of (or many of) the kinks and be ready for a playoff run.

I think that Bledsoe will finish out his contract here as the starter IF he plays well (as he did last night) and the Cowboys look like legitimate contenders with him behind center. If Bledsoe doesn't play well or is caught in the pocket too often or the passing game doesn't click for whatever reason he could be gone next year. It is also possible that if he has a mediocre season that he could lose his job to Henson/Romo next year.

Romo did not look like a better QB than Bledsoe LAST NIGHT. But Last Week and the week before he most certainly did look like the better QB. I'm not saying that Romo IS a better QB or that he could be better consistently; just that for most of this preseason he DID looked like the best QB we have.

And yes we will be involved in and/or subjected to innumerable QB debates involving all levels of the position throughout the remainder of the year...UNLESS!!...Bledsoe has a great year. In which case the QB debate will be largely tabled until next offseason.

I too am pumped about this upcoming season and am trying valiantly not to get too giddy about our prospects for this year. Gonna head to the medicine cabinet to snake a couple of the wife's valium now.

FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!!!
