Yes, I do realize a fair amount of you care not to have perspective thrown your way from a Commander fan. However, after following the the Dallas/SF game AND the game thread on this site today, I was a bit surprised at the amount of negativity and the DEPTH from which the negativity seemed to come. Not from everyone, but from a pretty fair majority.

So, without further delay, a few things to keep in mind:

- Your Cowboys are exactly one play from being 3-0.

- Your Cowboys are one play from being 3-0 WITHOUT having played their best football. When you bring your B-game two weeks in a row and get out 1-1 ... that's a good thing.

- Today's comeback wasn't real pretty, but it did show the heart, grit and determination it takes to overcome Dallas' mistakes AND some good plays made by the 49ers. SF is perhaps not the pushover we all expected them to be.

- I hang at Extremeskins and believe me, I have seen some bad game threads in my day. All things being considered, however, you guys are sitting in a nice spot after three weeks.

Good win today. NFC East looks like a lot of fun this year.

It's the nature of fandom. You can see this on any forum for any team.

Nice post.

we could be 3-0 and also easily be 0-3.

2-1 is a pretty good place to be either way :)

The problem is that we spent millions on the defense and it still isn't fixed. We're tired of being lied to.

It's called youth and getting acclimated. Anyone who made you believe the scheme and the good players meant a switch would be flipped is a good salesman or you are too gullible.

This will be a very good defense, but not right away.

Many of us mentioned that it would take time for the players to become comfy with the transition. It's a pretty substantial change. At times, it looks really bad.

Aside from that, there are still serious issues in coverage, particularly with the safeties. Though, I don't think that will be changing anytime soon.

Your spot on, this will ultimately be a very good defense. They still have a few holes and teams are going to zero in on those, but what is really lacking is this defense playing together in the same system for long enough to actually learn where to line up.

I'm an old Cowboy fan who has read this forum for a couple of years. The thing that still surprises me is that some fans are really ignorant as to what it takes to be successful in the NFL. The fact is the really dominant defenses are grown not made in a test tube, This IMO will be a dominant defense but not over night and it might not even be until a couple more pieces are added.

Winning ugly is a beautiful thing.

not when it comes against the worst team in the league, and not when it comes with yielding 390 yds and 24 pts to the likes of Arnaz Battle, Tim Rattay and Frank Gore

the problem is the same coach is on the sideline calling and game planning for the defense

get rid of Zimmer, and we'd be eons better

I disagree. There will be one more digit in the W column tomorrow regardless of how the defense performed.

There may be cause for concern that continued play like that will lead to losses rather than wins, but for today ... a win is a win.

I am less-than-thrilled with the Skins' offense in two games. I know we will lose many games this season if there is no improvement. But two ugly wins is ... well ... two wins. I'll take 'em. :)

So, you're saying you would have preferred to lose, if the win isn't "stylish" enough for you??

Never mind that the Cowboys had to go out to the West Coast, on a short work week after the Monday Night game against the Skins...

I trust you'll let us know if any future Cowboys wins rack up enough "style points" for you to "take" the W...

Hos, there is a lot of people who think like that guy. I have to keep myself from letting it frustrate me when I try to explain to people that our defense will make mistakes early in the season and by the middle of the season those mistakes will be cut down to a bare minimum or none, especially late in the season.

It is all a learning process is what I keep telling people, I could not explain the deep pass completions, until Brian Cox broke it down to a caller on the radio tonight.

He said that the secondary was playing quarters of the field and that the 2 passes that Moss caught were really on Roy and that Glenn was trying to give him some help, and today that is what happen again excpet it was on Davis and Henry, which is why Parcells was yelling at Davis,on the bench and why Davis was benched.

Frank Gore showed a little flash of his first season at Miami. He will replace Barlow soon.

...obvious what Parcells expects his safeties to do on that type of a defence. His "discussion" with Davis revealed what we all suspected was the case with Washington game.

The safety is expected to be there for the play and should be keeping the player in front of him instead of biting on the underneath route.
