Pet dog crippled by tornado drags himself home

Mason, a terrier mongrel, was hiding in his owners' garage in Birmingham, Alabama, when he was sucked up by a twister raging through the city.

When his owners returned to their damaged home three weeks later to sift through the debris, they had almost given up hope of ever seeing their pet again.

To their surprise, they found Mason waiting for them on the porch. His two front legs were fractured so he had had to crawl on two broken legs to get home.

They were showing this on the new this morning while I was eating breakfast.

Why did they leave him?

I doubt they left him. They probably weren't home when the tornado struck.

Either way, I thought the whole video was going to be with the dog crawling on broken legs and I was about to ask why they didn't fix him yet.

Crazy story.

I must have misunderstood. Sounded like they evacuated and came back 3 weeks later.

Was just curious why he did not go with them.

Yeah, the story didn't include a lot of info but I don't think they left him behind.

Probably just took the dog three weeks to find/make his way home.

Pretty bad breaks though.

Awesome story???????

Did you guys watch the same video I did? Poor dog went through all of that to make it back home and then the owners ask the shelter to take him so they can "piece their own lives back together" :banghead:

You've got to be kidding me.

Remarkable story of perseverance from the dog's perspective but how in the hell do you give up on an animal that has endured like that to get back to his "family"...........

I dunno how amazing it is really. Hard to say. I am curious as to how he's been getting his food, etc. As far as his crawling, as far as we know he just crawled across the street or something, which I'm sure would suck, but we don't know if he was all that far from home or anything that would make it some incredible ordeal.

It could have been, and could be a great story, but there's not enough info for me to make that determination. And the family doesn't impress me too much.

Ridiculous thinking, the family was unable to properly care for a cripple pet while they recover. The dog is in great hands, temporarily, while they get their lives back together.

If the family had known Kendo was going to pay for everything, I'm sure they would have been all for it.
