I'd definately say Woodson is better than Al Harris and I'd be hard pressed to say I'd take ANY other corner in the NFC over Woodson -- T-New included.

From the article.
"Why in the heck is Charles Woodson not on the Pro Bowl team? There is no way Newman is having a better year than Woodson."

None of them have played as well as Woodson. Harris is having a heck of a year, and he would be my second starter in the NFC, but he isn't playing better than Woodson. I've covered the Packers twice this season and Woodson is the better cover player of the two.

Oh. Well then. Make way for the opinion of the guy who has covered the Packers twice this season.

Numbers don't always do justice for the corner position since people stay away from the better cover people. In Green Bay, they're both quality cover people, so it's tough to do. So we'll look at the numbers.

Woodson has 57 tackles to Harris' 35. Both have nine passes defensed, and Woodson has four interceptions to two for Harris.

Why in the heck is Charles Woodson not on the Pro Bowl team? There is no way Newman is having a better year than Woodson. Trufant has seven interceptions, but he isn't better than Woodson, either.

I have no idea what his point is here.

Phase 1: You can't always judge a CB by numbers.
Phase 2: Let me show you some numbers proving that Woodson is superior to Harris.
Phase 3: Let me discount the superior numbers of the NFC's other starting CBs.
Phase 4: ?????
Phase 5: Profit!

No kidding. I can't even tell what he's trying to say there.

Nothing wrong with claiming that Woodson is better, if he thinks that. But he thinks Harris is #2? So the two starting Pro Bowl corners should be both the Green Bay starters?

Umm, no.

On Tuesday, he got it good. Woodson was somehow left of the NFC Pro Bowl team. It's by far the biggest slight of any player in the league, and once again reminds us all of why the Pro Bowl voting is a joke.

I notice that usually when I see that the Pro Bowl voting is a joke it's a media member saying it.

How can it be a joke when TWO THIRDS of the vote comes from people that coach and play the game. The people that know the players and their abilities intimately.

The only reason the media thinks the voting is a joke is because THEY don't get to vote on it.

Media is nothing more than Fans. Anyone who produces this quality journalism is nothing more than a fan.

This person does not deserve equal voting.

I read it and laughed, maybe it's comedy.

How about Tampa Bay having no pro bowlers on a division champion?

Wasn't 10-4 Jacksonville snubbed as well?

I didn't notice Jax. Yeah, it seems unfair to me. Heck, Dallas had a pro bowler (Walker) in 1988.

I wonder if Al Harris is going to have to walk around holding onto TO's out-turned pants pocket at the probowl?

The only reason the media thinks the voting is a joke is because THEY don't get to vote on it.

That is because a lot of players don't take the voting seriously. There are stories every year about how players vote for the first guy on the list, get influenced by a teammate on who to vote for or just fill in the ballots randomly. Sure these know the game very well and know which players are good, but some times they just don't put in the effort.

I think the pro-bowl voting is a joke and I think the same about all-pro voting, which I believe is only done by the media. None of these systems is perfect and in many ways both are horrible.

The players and coaches that vote often have a less valid opinion than many "fans".

A great many player votes aren't based on any actual knowledge. Some players have others fill out their ballots, some players vote for others that have no chance of being elected to help out a teammate who might, some players vote for friends or their agent's other clients....

Most players that do take the voting seriously are handicapped by playing in the NFL. They don't get to see a lot of other teams play as they're busy preparing for the team they play that week, not really concerning themselves with teams they don't play that season.

I'd like to see the pro bowl elections decided by a veteran's committee. Each team appoints 5 former players who vote in lieu of the active players. Each team would also have 2 votes decided upon by team officials. I think we'd have a much more "deserving" team every year under that scenario.

The players shouldn't be voting at all.

Scouts and personnel people are best equipped to make the call, but I understand the NFL wanting to let the fans have a voice.

Someone should tell pete that players don't gain a lot of votes when sitting on the bench injured.

Why in the heck is Charles Woodson not on the Pro Bowl team?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out the answer.

After the fan voting, Woodson was ranked No. 1 in the NFC. After the coaches and players' voting, Woodson was ranked No. 4.

The answer to Prisco's question: The NFC players and coaches didn't think Woodson was one of the top three cornerbacks this season (and they might have even ranked him lower than that).

this game really should be done away with. What happens when a players career is ended from getting tackled or sacked in thsi "mean aboslutely nothing" exhibition game.

Cancel the game. Give the players a trophy and a trip to Hawaii but no game....
