NYC if you get the ball in Ginns hands he'll make a play bottom line.

He does need to be polished and has some holes in his game but if the guy gets the rock in his hands he'll make a play.

Chances are they would name Garrett assistant HC and I think Garrett understands that Phillips is getting up in age as well. If Garrett felt he was the next in line he very well could choose to stay.

1 - Being Asst HC means nothing if a team pursues Garrett as their Head Coach.

2 - Yeah, he might turn down HC offers, but its also quite possible that he would want that bird in the hand rather than Jerry's promises.

If Garrett lives up to his press clippings, those kind don't just grow on trees. Teams will come knocking and Jerry can't pin his hopes on Garrett being patient IMO.

I'm not concerned. Yet... because obviously we have the 2007 season in front of us. But I am saying that I think there may be a potential situation unfolding that Jerry simply cannot leave to hoping Garrett stays.

Well if Dallas is successful with Phillips you can't reward him by firing him either. As for being named assistant HC teams have done this in the past to keep a coach from leaving and in Garrett case I think he does understand that he is a part of the future with Jones and the Cowboys. Could he still leave sure but I don't think it is a given that he would.

It's simple; pay Garrett more money. It's a stretch to think someone is going to want Garrett as a HC after only three years of coaching experience.

I disagree. Money doesn't always solve the problem. When Garrett gets the itch to be a HC its not gonna be solved for very long with just more $$ to stay. And if he does stay for the $$, then Wade is gonna know he's on borrowed time just like Kurt Warner knew when the Giants drafted Eli. And that can be messy itself.

I'm not predicting Garrett gets a HC interview next year. But if things fall the way we all are hoping (solid offense, defense & deep playoff run) the stars could start aligning quicker than you'd expect for a guy with his lack of traditional HC experience.

Think Dan Snyder, think Al Davis or think any struggling franchise desperate enough to take a chance at striking gold with a green phenom, who nevertheless they believe to be a true phenom.

That's why Stanback got drafted in the 4th. Yeah, its too early for his resume, but you grab him then because if you like his potential its the only chance your assured of to get him.

That's why it could happen and knowing how Jones loves the guy why it could become real uncomfortable for Wade whether he wins (and his asst's start getting attention) or he loses (and Wade starts getting blamed).

Its a very unique situation I think.

I really think that Garrett wants to be affiliated with the Cowboys though. I do worry though that the Giants and Commanders jobs could open up and he would be right at the top of both teams lists.

Ginn got shutdown several times. His playmaking ability comes against garbage players that will be lucky to be a backup nickel DB in the NFL. Most won't ever even be non-drafted free agents. :D

Put the Tanqueray Ten (Gin) down, Ginn isn't the real thing. :lmao2:

btw, I never was a Gin drinker, until I tried Tanqueray Ten.

The Assistant Head Coach title has traditionally been used to block lateral moves not opportunities to become a head coach elsewhere.

Let me put it this way. If Jerry believes he has a "franchise QB" in Jason Garrett you don't want to take any chances on the guy escaping once someone else believes the same. That's the kind of hype Garrett just got from Peter King.

If you believe Garrett at age 40 or so has an exceptional future you don't leave "could leave" out there as a possibility when your current guy is 60+ years old. But to eliminate that possibility could certainly get uncomfortable.

Cool picture of Van Halen. I have not seen if Houston is one of the stops on the tour, it would be cool to see Dave back with the band and seeing Eddie and his son on stage playing together

What you say may or may not be the case, I don't know what Garrett will or will not do if the offer comes his way. I would not be surprised to see him stay with the Cowboys knowing full well he has a future with the ball club but that also is just a guess on my part. I guess we will cross that bridge when or if that day comes. As for Phillips I don't think it would be good business to fire him if he brings success to this team I think you scare off any decent coach in the future if you’re running your team that way.

I agree that Garrett probably has some Cowboy loyalty. But he was a Giant for a few years as well and certainly has some East Coast roots. Maybe he feels similarly good about NY.

And your worry is exactly what I'm talking about. Its sounds kind of absurd. But some sparkling Cowboy offensive stats in 2007 could make Garrett worth a look to some teams looking for a diamond in the rough.

They are not going to Tex...my guess is that this will be thte first leg and then they will expand it after the successful 25 city tour they will be on starting in Sep.

I know they are already talking about an album after the tour is finished. Then again as the local DJ have been saying around here this may not last the relationships with Dave have been rocky at best over the years.

And you have described exactly the sticky situation that I think could develop at years end either this year or next. Its a potential rock and a hard place and I don't think you want to be there with one of your franchise cornerstones.

There is absolutely nothing to be done right now. But there could be by season's end and that could be really interesting.

Maybe we could actually play a full season with Wade and Garrett before we fire Wade or Garrett is in line to take over another team. Just saying...

No...it says..

He'll be 32 on opening day 2012, still catching balls from Philip Rivers and still making it impossible for teams to cover him with an outside linebacker. Gates, I think, will challenge the all-time greats by the time he leaves the game.

That's one of the worst lists I've ever read, and that's saying something.

Darrelle Revis and Eric Weddle? Brian Leonard and Jarvis Moss? What an absolute joke.

you don't put that many rookies on a list unless you want to get embarrassed.

2012 is 4 years fron now so I'd still have TNew on it over alot of that crap he chose and Ware on it over Suggs.

Cowboys aside, I'd have at most 1 rookie on that list: Calvin Johnson.

Untilt hey play in the NFL only the truly extraordinary deserve a spot.
