Why? Most CBs take a little while to develop

From what I remember of Polite his problem was that sometimes he missed the guy- but when he got him it was all over. Inconsistent.

Spencer worried me because if a guy is going to get sacks 90% of the time you see it early and we did not. A year goes by and you still don't see them its pretty much over. Glad he was the exception.

With Ware and Spencer coming from the sides and the Rat up the middle we have as good a pass rush as any in the NFL. And without blitzing.

Theoretically, any time Ware or Spencer rush it is considered a blitz.

Why is Pittsburgh ranked ahead of teams that made the playoffs?

Sorry, when you lose to Oakland, Cleveland and KC in one season, you do not deserve to be ranked in the same echelon.

I thought a blitz was five or more people rushing the passer.

Spencer was a beast yesterday. I was laughing to myself last night about how people were calling him a bust. Jenkins too.

People were calling him a bust a recently as four weeks ago. Time for another helping of crow for a bunch of know-it-alls.

I wasn't aware having an opinion made someone a know-it-all.

By the way I already admitted I was wrong about Spencer.

Not picking you out my friend. Many on this forum are quick to dump on promising players. I wish the knee jerk reactions would slow down a little. To you and the others that admitted a error in judgement regarding Spencer and Jenkins, good for you. It takes a big person to admit their mistakes. God knows I have had a few myself.

It has been a fun year watching this team grow and develop.

Major respect for the work that Spencer has put in. Peter kings not the only someone who's noticed him either. Ask a few of our last opponents if he's a player. Glad to see him living up to the 1st round promise.

That it has. It's definitely been a roller coaster. It seems we've finally peaked at the right time.

Wow. I was wrong about Spencer, he may be the best pass rusher on the team going into the playoffs. I did not think he was a bust, just not a playmaker, I was completely wrong.

But to rank him ahead of Dumervil and Lamar Woodley? And no Rat???? Wilfork and that Titan are NOT better than Ratliff.

A blitz is actually sending more than five since the offense has five offensive linemen. But a misconception from fans (and media/commentators started calling it a blitz whenever a team sends a LB or Safety.

That's the thing though. Spencer has had a solid season. He just didn't get the pass rush. He didn't have the sacks so it was hard to make a case for a OLB playing good in the 3-4 but didn't have any sacks. That being said he was always solid against the run. Good in coverage.

There was a thread this weekend about QB sacks, pressures and hits. It turns out Spencer leads the league in QB hits by a healthy margin. Ware led in pressures by a healthy margin. When you added it all up, we basically had the two best OLB pass rushers in the league if I recall correctly.
