If we come out of this with a center and a safety, we've failed to fill the biggest holes on the team

I really like both of these players, but this strategy would be pretty damn stupid

Center and strong safety are not positions of huge impact. Especially a strong safety. I’m ok with drafting a Center or safety in round 2 on down.

Delpit has ball skills so in a trade back I’d be fine with him.

Dallas needs to come out of round 1 with a QB, Chaisson, Henderson, a Top 3 WR, Kinlaw, or Brown...

Anything else is a huge disappointment.

I disagree that center isn't a position of big impact. Fredrick was a huge reason our OL has been so dominant.

And McKinny isn't a SS. There isn't really a SS position anymore. Your safeties need to be in interchangable. He can do it all. Be the centerfielder. Cover the slot receiver. Play the run. Etc.

I'd rather have a sure thing prospect than Chaisson..who's more boom or bust imo. And we can't use a high pick on the DL every single year and keep hoping it's not a bust.

History is on your side ;)

We haven’t drafted safety since Roy Williams I believe lol

Not only that.......we've also made serious offers for not 1 but 2 all-pro vets ( ET and Adams ) over the last couple years. I think it's fair to say they WILL NOT be using 17 on safety.

Is the price to move from 51 to 32 only a 3rd??

Does that sound cheap or is it me?

Anyone who is ok with McKinney at 17 also needs to be fully on board with Adams for that pick.

At best, McKinney becomes Adams.

I would rather pay Adams now and not have to face the bust factor.

BUT...this should serve to point out why they cant get him for only pick 17.

Center is mainly about intelligence and being able to not get pushed into the backfield. Anything else is a bonus and just because you draft the center with the most physical attributes doesn’t mean he will be the best to coordinate the Oline.

If they think he's worth reading back up for (or down for) maybe they've determined he's highly intelligent, would fit their system well, and could step in right away. Idk..I wouldn't argue much with their drafting lately. If they can find a guy in the mid rounds that would make our line one of the best again I'm all for it!

not really
We will be paying Adams multiple times what you will pay McKinney, we will have McKinney for longer on his initial deal which is the real value of the draft, and chances are we can trade down and get an extra rd 3 pick and still get McKinney

I think McKinney would be a safe pick that we could start his rookie season and not worry about for ten years. He's also has a high football IQ and due to injuries he played closer to the line of scrimmage to help get the defense lined up.

I think Ruiz is the highest rated interior offensive lineman guard or center.

Meh.......Roy was arguably the best college football player on defense I’ve ever seen. The dude could literally take over a game.
Oh, I agree. I thought the choice was excellent. And the first two years, Roy was a beast! But something happened that made his career level off. I'm just musing in hindsight. 23 other teams passed on Ed Reed, so, apparently, many didn't think his career would turn out like it did. Sigh.

Why? Dude is raw as hell. Do we want a project with our 1st? We already supposedly have Gregory and Aldon. And Tank. Let's sure up the secondary with a guy we know can contribute right away and make sure our OL doesn't blow up with no Fred and "Shell of Himself" Smith at LT

If we draft a good edge first, I suspect we’ll get 2 “no’s” on Gregory and Smith. If we go CB or S, we’ll at least get 1 “yes”. I’m not touting the merits of Reynold’s Wrap, just SUGGESTING yet another convenient coincidence...

Looney played as well as Frederick did last year in 2018 and we made the playoffs. We also have McGovern.

Trading away premium picks to move back up and take a C in the first round is just frustrating.

Why in the hell are we the only team in the NFL that needs an OL of mostly all first and second round picks to field a quality OL?

I dont agree Looney played as well in 2018 as Fred did last year, but think about this. THe line let up less than half the sacks of the year before, and Fred felt that his performance was nowhere near worthy of him coming back. In other words, he realized he was mediocre last year and that still was better than Looney.
