2. I think neither side should be expecting much -- and neither side is -- from the straight-up trade of Dallas linebacker Bobby Carpenter for St. Louis tackle Alex Barron. Carpenter does fit better as an outside 'backer next to James Laurinaitis in the Rams' 4-3 than he ever fit in the 3-4, but he had enough chances to make plays in Dallas that he's likely no more than a stopgap guy for St. Louis. Barron, a first-round pick by the Rams in 2005, has been a disappointment his entire pro career. His work ethic was never good. Maybe it's changing now that he's staring his football mortality in the face, but I doubt it.

So what Peter King is saying is that a Barron (from Rams) for Carpeer (from Dallas) swap in football would be as inconsequential aa a Peter King (SI.com) for Ed Werder (ESPN.com) swap in online sports-journalism. Thanks for the perspective Petey.

Good one and true!

On a side note...anyone hear anything from Len Pastabelly lately? I don't remember the last time I have read anything from him. Of course he could just start back up when the season starts.

haha that nickname pastabelly always makes me smile.

I don't care how bad your football team is, but when you start 74 of 76 games in your first 4 years your doing something right. I mean do you really think we would start Pat McQuistan because we drafted him #1 and he was all we had? Let the QB get killed? I'm getting sick of the argument about him. He obviously may have had his penalties and mental laspes, but he apparently protected Bulger pretty darn well for 4 years....and he's going to be a swing here....it was a fantastic move!

The worst part about this move is who are we going to make fun of now.

King also had this blurb in his MMQB article:

Factoid of the Week That May Interest Only Me

One of the reasons I've never been an Alex Barron fan -- only his accountant should be partisan to the former first-round tackle of the Rams who's about to be dealt to Dallas -- is his attention to detail, and his fervor to be great. It's just not there. This illustrates it best: 43 false-start penalties in five seasons. Ridiculous.

8 false starts a year is a bit much. But he's the swing tackle not the starting LT.
