New York (11-6) at Dallas (13-3)

While we prattle on endlessly about Terrell Owens' bum leg and Tony Romo's travel habits and Eli Manning's sudden striking imitation of his older brother, we miss the real story of this game: Marion Barber. The Giants are rushing the passer too well right now for Dallas offensive coordinator Jason Garrett to think Mark Columbo can stop Michael Strahan and Flozell Adams to shut out Osi Umenyiora. Even though the Cowboys did a good job conserving Barber's strength during the season (he averaged only 12.8 rushes per game, maddening for some Cowboy fans dying to see him rush it 25 times weekly), it's money time now. And this Brahma bull lugging it somewhere in the twenties is the best chance for Dallas to win and advance. Having said that, if the Giants protect Manning and this seventh-round gift from heaven (Marshall running back Ahmad Bradshaw was the sixth-to-last pick of the draft, a Giants' compensatory pick) continues to run like a meteor possessed, this game has the best upset potential of the weekend.

I'm glad King picked us but I disagree that Colombo and Flo will not be able to stop Umenyiora and Strahan. I have confidence in both to continue to provide excellent protection for Romo and of course the second problem for the giants pass rush is even if you get by one of our tackles now you have to deal with Romo getting outside and hitting the big play.

Flo and Columbo stopped them back when they where "the best team in the NFC" and in week 1 yet now somehow they're all of a sudden not good enough to do it?

I guess Romo's 8 TD passes in two games against the Giants this season was a fluke. If Peter had a clue, he'd be dangerous :lmao2:

New York led the league in sacks this season with 52. But 12 came in their first game versus the Eagles and the second game in Philly they didn't record a single sack.

They recorded only three sacks against Dallas all season. Tony Romo had 8 touchdowns to only two interceptions in those games, throwing for nearly 600 yards combined. Oh yes, they own our OLine.

i do think we need to give the rock to MB3 at LEAST 15 times on sunday. we HAVE to establish a run game and i think if we give the man the ball, he will produce.

19-13......***. This will not be a low scoring game.

Flo can take out Usi.
Give Marc a bit of help on the plays with deeper drops against Strahan and we'll be fine.

I agree. I don't expect Dallas to be 50/50 on run/pass but I do think we need to be somewhat blanced in our attack to keep the giants defensive front honest.

I agree. If anything the score will be closer to double that.

:starspin Yes...we will need to give him the ball often enough, and early enough, in order to give their pass rush something to think about it.

King missed the obvious counter to their pass rush.

It's not just our protection but also Romo's instinctive and uncanny ability to avoid the rush while in the pocket and while keeping his eyes downfield. That's when he is most dangerous.

I agree and with the return of Gurode Dallas should be able to stop the LB from coming up the middle. Procter did a nice job filling in but Gurode is our Pro Bowl center and it will be nice having him back

..just total touches.

Sure, we'd like to get him running early, but throwing screens to him to negate the pass rush and getting him out of the backfield on quick circle routes in the open zones and his RACs will burn their defense.

Also, if MBII and to some extent, Jujo, are not utilized early and effectively spreading the ball around, Romo's play action passing is going to be zero and the Jints will force him into mistakes.

My belief is that their defense is going to go all out to rush Romo and get him to make quick decisions while double-covering Witten and TO to stop his initial reads.

The Jints do not beleive our running backs will beat them nor TG or the other WRs.

So the OL will have it's hands full and we will need some big plays from guys like Crayton, Jujo, TG and Fasano or possibly Austin and Hurd to breakdown their single matchups to win this game.

And Romo is going to need to take some sacks and throw some balls away if needed and to be patient early to make some adjustments later to win.

This is going to be a dogfight.

And to win, the defense is going to have to play it's best game of the year. If they miss tackles and let big runs happen and don't get pressure on Manning, it will be the end of our ride.

It's doable and I've seen this team find a way to win just about every week.

My greatest fear is going behind 10-14 points early. The Jints are going to be coming in on a roll and that will take them thru the 1st half with all out effort.

If we can weather that and keep it close, we can win.

If not, I don't see us stopping the Jints if they get a sizable lead and then just pounding our defense with running the ball, throwing the dink passes that Manning is having success with lately and controling the clock and leaving Romo and the offense less and less possessions to score.

We'll know in the 1st 10 minutes of the game with what is happening with the Cowboys..whether they are emotionally up to matching the Jints early.

I think the game depends on it. If they do, then the emotional edge the Jints have coming in will probably wear off and Dallas should pull away if we are patient and limit mistakes.

Turnovers, unforced and forced will determine this game, too. They always do in the playoffs, especially.

We'll see.

I agree with the range of the score being a low one. I htink this game will be low scoring whether TO plays or not. I am praying that he can play and play up to his capabilities. Maybe Folk will make another kick to help us win a game. I see it as a FG game.
