Peter Schrager mock

I don't mind Smith, but I think he's a second round prospect. I can't fathom a path where guys like Penning, Green, Zion are all gone and you're having to reach for OL because if that happened, you're getting prospects like Lloyd, Dean, J. Johnson or even a wideout dropping in your lap that probably shouldn't be there.

They were just throwing a tantrum when both of their precious cornerbacks went off the board before we picked. They were going to hate whoever we selected.

I wouldn't trade Parsons for Horn AND Surtain.

I’ll cop to having much the same mindset that a guy like Owning expressed. At the time, I was asking the same thing: Why draft another linebacker? But I was unaware that they were going to release Jaylon Smith so soon after extending him and appearing to be here for the long haul.

Clearly, that wasn’t the case.

Oh no that's terrible! That's way to rich for him at 24, but if you could get him at 34-40 sure, that's a great pic! What a bunch crap.

I have said it before and I'll say it again, I hate "value" talk of draft pics. Who the bleep cares if a guy can play and be a stud if you took him earlier than he was projected to go?
Travis Fredrick anyone?

A bit of a reach, but the PFN left him as the top OL a couple of times. I prefer Johnson and Green who can start day 1 at G and possibly play some tackle. I even had Penning available a couple times at 24, but I ignored it as unlikely. Even Penning would start at G. No one knows how long T smith will play. We cannot draft his replacement in round one unless we know that guy is ready and capable of starting at LG for awhile.

I prefer Green but if the scouts think Smith can start at Guard and move to OT later then that changes everything.

Self honesty is admirable.

The one thing I definitely did NOT want was one of Surtain/Horn. I can't get on board with the corner early thing because of the way the rules are.

I wanted a DE in an attempt to be ahead of the mess that we recently witnessed and figured a deal down for Ojulari and his knee was a better bet than Jaelan Phillips and his skull.
(So we are clear, the team doesn't ask me lol)

I was so hung up on not doing the Bears deal for this years first, which I knew would be high, I didnt have time to dislike the Parsons pick.

Then they infuriate me even further by admitting that corner was the focus with the next pick. Whoever was left.....with Ojulari still there at 44.

I mean, then Parsons becomes something few people thought he would, and we get over things.

Still, in the OP scenario, FSU DE Johnson is on the board at 24. That's gotta be the pick.

First mock I've seen him as available there.

If Tyler Smith starts this year he will get abused by seasoned vets, absolutely schooled. He needs to sit at least a year imo and at 24 you can't afford to waste a year of that contract on a non contributor.

I’ll be ecstatic if Burks and Smith come off the board before 24. My fear has been they are dialed in on Smith like they were on LVE. Smith is a reach at 24, however if he turns into Flozell it’s a phenomenal pick.

no way we let him start at OT because we already have two starters but we do have an opening at Guard,it all comes down to how the scouts view him and if he can start at guard for us/

I see a lot of names still there at 24 that are gone in most mocks.

Linderbaum, Green, JJohnson, Dean....

this smith pick at 24 would be viewed as a massive fail/reach. He is a 3rd rd guy on some mocks. Glad Shrags is a TV guy.

More “position flex” they are always spewing…….

His comments....

Tyron, meet Tyler -- and teach him everything you know. The Cowboys are going through a transition across their offensive line, and it's time to reload with new, young talent. Smith is viewed as being a bit raw, but also as having one of the highest upsides among tackles in this draft. I don't see him falling out of the top 32.

Im fine with the position. Dont know much about Smith. Personally I think they will prioritize a guy with position flex that can excel at either guard or tackle.
