Peter Woods is considered a blue chip prospect. I believe there is a good chance he falls to us in the draft.

How frustrating would this be after not having a legit DT for so long.

If so do we draft him as best player available and have an extremely dominant interior DLine?

Would this significantly improve our ability to transition to a 3-4?

My guess would be we would pass on him with bigger needs in other positions. Maybe we could get a decent trade down out of it.

Or maybe we take him and then try to trade Clark or Osa.

It would help transition to a 3-4 but the hardest part of that Defense is acquiring the edges to make it a worth while Defense. You would still need another guy like Texas Tech Bailey to come off the edge. I'm sure EZ could do that. I think, with the confusion our Defense has already they should stick with a DEF for a couple years. Same scheme same Coordinator, after they get rid of Flus of course. Mixing things up could just continue the disjointedness.

So many holes while DT is our strength. I do agree with you

You can't have too many good DTs. The 90s Cowboys Super Bowl teams would rotate their DTs to keep them fresh though the whole game instead of them getting gassed and fatigued.

Leon Lett
Russell Maryland
Jimmy Jones
Tony Casillas
Char Hennings

I wouldn't touch these Clemson guys ,they all have massively underproduced or maybe they were overrated before the season.

I do not think they would be drafting him.

IF they did switch to a 3-4, I think they would look at a 5 tech or pass rushing OLB.

When this team needs CBs, S, LB and DEs....they are very weak in those areas. The only spot that they have a decent corp of players now are at DT.

In this draft and our position...chances are pretty good that there will be a DB, LB or DE that will line up as BPA and position of need. Vs the DT.

That does not mean they will not take a DT. I just do not think Woods is one they would want at that spot.

Why would they need to take Woods to transition to a 34?
Clark played NT in Green Bay's 34 his first 7 seasons in the league!

I didn't say they did.
You asked?
No!
Woods isn't needed to transition to a 34.
Doing so should be fairly easy in regards to the D line.
Along with Clark... QWilliams had his best sack season 12 in 2022 playing 34 5tech. Osa played in a 34 In college. Thomas was originally drafted to play in Sanfrans 34. Winfrey at 6'4 295 should transition easily.
DonEz is the epitome of a 34 OLB, Houston played 34 OLB at Jackson st and produced 161/2 sacks his final season!

Kayden Mcdonald is the DT i want if we take one.

Id not be opossed at all, but we do have bigger fish to fry on Defense.

I actually think he is a bit overrated and more of a 1/2 than legit top 10 prospect. Production just hasn't caught up to the talent.

I thought Graham / Nolen were better last yea.

Depends on what you call overrated but tj Parker will be a very good edge imo.

His name sounds like a male 1970s adult film star. Just saying, dude better be good with a name like that.

From what I have been reading he is supposed to a blue chip prospect.

I am asking if he is the best player available and the only blue chip player left do we draft him?

I am not specifically asking do we draft him to transition to a 3-4.

He's gone from top 10 prior to the season to mid teens to early 20s, 15 to 25 in most mocks lately. His TFL for 3 seasons is about equal to what Walter Nolen amassed in just his one season at Ole Miss.
So no, I don't think he's a blue chip nor going to be the absolute best player when we pick, nor does it seem like anyone of the draft gurus are holding him in that esteem anymore.
I think he'd be a luxury pick we can't really afford.
I'd take Bailey or Styles if there and wouldn't look back!

No, but Jerry is going to sign Peter Dinklage...
