New Atlanta Falcons coach Bobby Petrino told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Michael Vick's incident at Miami International Airport last week was "unfortunate" -- but that it's time to move past the episode.
Vick came under scrutiny on Jan. 17 when he attempted to bring a water bottle through airport security in Miami. Lab tests on the bottle, which contained a hidden compartment that police suspected may have contained marijuana, later found no evidence of drugs. Vick was never arrested or charged in the matter.

Petrino and Falcons general manager Rich McKay had a face-to-face meeting with Vick on Jan. 18, a day after the incident. It was Petrino's first face-to-face meeting with his star quarterback since leaving Louisville to succeed Jim Mora as head coach of the Falcons.

"I told him I didn't think our first meeting would be under these circumstances, but it was good to get to know him a little bit," Petrino told the Journal-Constitution.

"He told me what happened and how it happened, and from that point we decided we're going to get past that," Petrino told the newspaper. "It's unfortunate but we're going to put that behind us and it's hopefully football from here on. I'm really looking forward to moving on."

Petrino also dismissed the possibility of a quarterback competition between Vick and backup Matt Schaub.

"There's no questioning" that Vick is the Falcons' starter next season, Petrino told the newspaper. "That's exactly what I said, and that's how we're going to operate."

You will be sorry Petrino Vick is a coach killer, just ask his last 2 victims.

It's amazing to me that the evidence (water bottle) has now been disposed of, the video at the airport has been disposed of, and the lab test that were suppose to take possibly 2 weeks came so fast.

Give me a break..why would the man be carrying a water bottle w/ a hidden compartment in it, and that compartment contained a dark substance in it?

Pretty shaky if you ask me.

it's funny that Petrino says it's 'unfortunate', if Vick didn't do anything, what's unfortunate about all of this?

Seriously, that should be considered a terror threat in all honesty.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Handle him with kids gloves.
Pretend it never happened. Yeah, must "move on" and forgive and forget.
That is the mind-set these days with millionaire athletes.
Why on earth would teams penalize players when their bottom lines depend on same?
Poor kids at home. Watching all of this and thinking that they, too, will be able to play fast and loose with the law. After all, someone will come along to bail them out. No pun intended.

Considering all the STDS he has contracted it is probably wise to handle him with gloves.

Defenses will be forced to practice safe sacks.

The "Coach Killer" is already working on the heart of Petrino. It's just a matter of time before another one bites the dust. They should have built that team around Matt Schaub and pulled a Herschel Walker with some idiot franchise.

They still can, the Raiders are still under the jurisdiction of the decaying but legally living Al Davis.

Vick never had the best reputation at Virginia Tech, that's for sure. My friend's ex-boyfriend got into a fight with him while he was still here in VA. Needless to say, he's not her favorite player. :laugh2:
