Peyton Hillis is the missing piece on offense

I'm really surprised we haven't traded for him yet.

The offensive line certainly needs to get better, but this guy would be a difference maker in our offense.

What is the one main thing we've struggled with? Redzone scoring and short yardage situations.

Bringing in Peyton Hillis takes SO much pressure off of Tony Romo.

We have ONE rushing touchdown over the course of four games... ONE rushing touchdown...

In 2007 when we were the 2nd best scoring offense in the nfl we had 14 rushing touchdowns. .875 rushing touchdowns a game compared to what we have now which is .250 rushing touchdowns a game.

Bring in this bruiser running back. And not to be afraid that he won't last like Marion Barber, because you keep him in that role. Closer and finisher. I'm not saying trade for Papelbon and make him a starter, you get a closer and you use him in that role. You give the guy like 6-8 carries per game.

The one thing our offense is missing. This guy is almost certainly available, and I don't think we would have to pay much for him. Perhaps Choice and a mid round draft pick.

You give us that running back who Romo has confidence in getting us into the endzone, and it's a game changer.

I'd be happy to trade rental for rental with them (choice for hillis) but I doubt they go for that.

The only way I'd pay something substantial is if we could work out a reasonable long-term deal with him. If that were the case then I'd trade Felix for Hillis straight up. There wouldn't be much point of keeping both Felix and Hillis since Murray can do most of the things Felix does but just not as well.

I'm not interested in giving up a premium pick for him.

Maybe. The guy I'd love to see us sign in the offseason is Michael Bush. He's a good enough pass blocker, and he's good in short yardage. He'll be an unrestricted free agent, IIRC.

Didn't you say in your other thread that we already have as good an offense as the Patriots, who are regarded as having the best one in the league?

How are you going to get the ball to all these guys? Like someone said, do you really think Garrett would use him anyway? How many resources are we going to pour into a position that has already been minimized by Goodell and Co.'s new rules?

He's gonna get paid by someone.

RB is one position you don't break the bank for.

I also highlighted our main deficiency in our running game.

Garrett would use him in short yardage if he was brought in for short yardage, it's pretty simple.

Minimized? Look at green bay and patriots and how many rushing tds they have this year.

I think Tanner could be the bruiser everyone is looking for. The guy runs hard, he will make whoever tackles him pay. Doesn't go down easy or on first contact from what I have seen but we still need real game time to be sure. they should try himin short yardage and goalline situations, he can't be any worse than what we have had.

Felix is a better back than Hillis. We need our offensive line to open up holes for our guys. Its that simple.

Exactly.

I think it's a big misconception that you need a big bruiser to pick up short yardage. No matter how big you are, you can't overpower three big guys in there on a heavy defensive set. Sometimes a smaller guy with a good feel for the game who can find the tiny creases in those situations is better.

We just need better blocking.

And we need a resolve to run, which we obviously do not have.

but that can't be true. Hillis is on the Madden cover...lol....j/k

yes Felix is a better back.

What, and Hillis isn't?

I'd give up Choice and a 2nd day pick/Ogletree for Hillis. For those who think Hillis would not improve this team's running game are completely fooling themselves.

We have yet to use Felix to his full potential.

I've been waiting for us to run ever since the 3 headed monster hype. I've come to realize it's not going to happen.

One man has the power to change our run game and its not Hillis its Garrett.

Minimal improvement at best. The Cowboys' problem in the run game is their offensive line not their running backs.
