It's funny that we see it and think "wow, leadership" but come on, if Romo did that, no matter how solid a leader he was, the team could be 15-0 and it could be Week 17, the media would asbsolutey jump all over Romo for doing this sort of thing and all we'd hear about is about fractures in the lockerroom, and Romo's a poor leader, etc. W/ the Cowboys, it's a double-standard...always.

As a football fan, I like Peyton; he really is one of the best QBs in league history and I think we're lucky to get to see him playh (the way some of us got to see Montana, Marino, etc in their prime, or others got to see Bradshaw, Staubach, etc in their prime).

You're absolutely right, Romo just cannot win no matter what he does he'll always get this hatred and criticism.

I don't think theres any audio/video of it but it was reported that he was chewing out the O-line during the Vikings game. But of course our linemen would rather watch the game from a first person view rather than play in it.

My tv hasn't been on much after that lost so I wonder if ESPN have made any negative comments towards Tony for getting on his O-line.

Saturday's not a small guy, but ol' Manning started to talk a little quieter when Big Boy told him to "go sit down". It was funny. he knew he was about to get stomped!

No way anyone on that team touches him - that is, if they want to stay on the team. It is also probably true that no one else is going to hire you either unless you are a Pro Bowl quality player.

I'm not a big Manning fan, I do like him both as a person and a QB, but not to extremes because he plays for another team, in the AFC no less.

But I agree with him. If you are a player on the team, don't come off the field saying we should do this or we should do that.

Don't question that during the game.

No, you aren't the coach, ... whatever the coaches call, .. execute your job.

Manning is right here, do what is called.

He says, "we will, we'll run the ball down there sometimes, but if we call pass, you block."

LOL, I love stuff like that, .. the NFL is a battle with gladiators, I love it.

And then you get some creampuffs that jump all stiff-legged when they see something like this, .. like it is happening at quilting class or something.

Football is awesome.

Yep, WV, I had Peyton's back on that one. Just do your job and block.

+10. Our line can be good but we've got some all-or-nothing guys who either dominate or whiff completely.

cough **Leonard Davis** cough

That guy is gonna get Romo crushed some day the way he whiffs in there sometimes. That's why I still think he would be a better fit at Tackle - preferably Right Tackle although I've heard he has trouble playing it - kind of a pity. Would love to slide him out there, put Free at LT and then go looking for two guards in the FA/draft. Much easier to find guards then tackles. Heck, we could even put Holland out there and be okay.

Thanks for posting this. I have new respect for Manning. He's not a terminator robot after all.

If that shot at support of TO, I think that is totally idiotic comparison. Manning there was yelling about executing the play called and not questioning Coaches etc. Total opposite of what TO would whine about or yell about. Its all about TO no matter how much he screwed up, never admit it.

I think Peyton calls the plays and he was questioning Peyton.

That is why Peyton was so pissed IMO.

I cant wait until he destroys every Farve record, except interceptions, Turnover Brett can keep that one.

I just don't know if that will happen... you are assuming Manning plays into his 40's and plays at a high level. 99.99% of QBs don't make it that far -- add to that the problems Manning has had with his knee(s) over the past few seasons and I'm not so sure.

Favre has to stop playing for Manning to pick up any significant ground -- and Favre looks like he <could> play another 1-2 years.

Into his 40's? He's only 33. At his current pace he will eclipse most of Favre's records in 5 years and several of them in only 4.

Do people really think they play a game as tough, physical and intense as they do in the NFL, then come over to the sidelines, hold hands and sing "Kumbaya"?

Of course people get upset when they perceive someone else is not doing their job.

Right. So you are saying he'll have to keep his career averages up to age 38. Most QBs retire way before then -- not say Manning will, however, I don't know if it is realistic to expect him to keep up the current pace for the next 5 years.

He's 33. He's never missed a game. He's started every game since early in his freshman year of college. He's never suffered a significant injury.

Manning's greatest attribute is between his ears. He's not dependent on a tremendous arm or great athleticism, so he is likely to age well, in nfl terms.

He could easily play another 5 years at a high level. A lot of QBs who don't have debilitating injury problems (the way Aikman did) play into their late 30s. Anything can happen, and he may not even want to play, but I'd say the odds are good he plays another 5 years if he wants to.

Either way, it doesn't really change his legacy. Favre would only have the records because of longevity. Manning's overall productivity is unmatched at this point in his career.

No, most average/good QBs retire before 38... actually most great QBs will play well into their late 30's.

Look at the list of recent-ish Hall of Fame QBs... Steve Young, Dan Marino, John Elway, Warren Moon, Joe Montana... all played until at least age 38 (Moon went to 44). Of the rest, Jim Kelly (who's not really a HoF if you ask me) and Dan Fouts played to 36, while Aikman was the sole early retiree at age 34.

And Peyton Manning has been healthier over his career than all of those guys.

Oh, and other than Aikman and Kelly (who, again, really isn't a hall of famer), all of them had higher QB ratings in the second half of their careers than they did the first half. People think Favre is an exception, and he is to an extent, but really, QBs age the best of any position in football. So much of the position is knowledge-based, and that only increases as you get older.

Yes, I do think it is realistic to say he can keep up that pace and if he is close to the records, he will go get them. He is durable, intelligent, and simply knows how to win.

He has 2 seasons in his NFL career that were bad seasons. One is his rookie year which you can toss out the window. They were 3-13 horrible. His 4th year in the NFL they were 6-10.

10times in this kid's career his team has had double digit wins and only twice were they 10-6. The rest of the time he has been 12-4 or better. He has 8 seasons of 12-4 or better.

I don't care who you are, that is phenomenal production.

Considering Manning still had an above league-average QB rating in the 6-10 season (playing for a lame-duck coach), I'm not even sure you can call that a "bad" season.

Those 2 years were his only 2 where he was under 85.0 for his QB rating and 2001 he was 84.1.

He's a machine.

Probably the sole reason Favre keeps playing! :lmao2:
