Thought this might spur some conversation. Ought Tony to be more like Peyton, after all?

And then there's this:

Manning doesn't have usual "buddies." Compared to most players, he has a unique relationship with his bosses, often golfing with Broncos executive vice president of football operations John Elway. (Manning played at Augusta with Elway and coach John Fox. Let's just say Brock Osweiler doesn't get the same treatment.)

Can you imagine the storylines if Tony were to spend his time in the offseason golfing with Jerry or Stephen Jones? Ha.

:laugh2:

Face there is the real world in which these players actually live, on and off the field then there is the life fans make for these players. It really is a joke seeing fans act as if players deserve no life outside of football. If they don't do exactly as fans feel then the fan throws a hissy fit. These are humans just like the rest of us and just like the rest of us they need time away to enjoy things outside of their day to day life.

I doubt anyone here is working 7 days a week at their job yet expect that from players? Give me a break :laugh2:

All in good fun, I just have to say that Tony needs to play more golf if he plans to put in Peyton-like hours. :D

Seriously though, that is a heck of a score at Augusta National!

"What I've known about playing quarterback in a town, it's a routine," Manning said. "There's football, then it's going to play golf with your buddies, taking guys to a baseball game, speaking to schools, giving out money here in Colorado."

In other words, the best players play their best when they have a balanced life.

I'm sure Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and the rest would tell you that they are better QBs because they have a balanced life.

Guess they'll have to start serving gatorade in the clubhouse now letting all the darned football players in.....
(this is a play on Serge's crack regarding fried chicken and Tiger Woods)

Sure, burnout happens if you do not get away from the job and all it entails.

I wonder what tees he hit from. Still a good score for an amateur on that course.

i like romo but he is not peyton (or brady or brees)

it is also laughable to suggest that spending time with elway and fox is the same as spending time with 2 football idiots like jerry and stephen

this thread is just ignorant unfortunately

what is ignorant is to think Romo can't have a life and do things outside of football on his time off like any other player or person. Your right he is not Peyton or Brady or Brees but he is a person he needs the time away like any of the players in the NFL and for people to throw a hissy fit over it only tells me they need to get a life and stop living other people lives

please show me where i said he should not be playing golf or should not have a life away from football?

the thread is ignorant because it tries to demean peyton rather than trying to elevate romo

if you are Ok with romo playing golf (as I am) say it, no need to use peyton as a crutch

I did not claim you said these thing however some people have done so.

I don't see it demeaning Peyton it only shows all players be them Cowboys or other teams player need time away from this game and the media microscope.

Romo gets held out there as if the Cowboys problems fall to him, he is not the coach and while his position is important it is also important to walk away from the pressure cooker of being a NFL player.

:laugh2: at anyone trying to compare Romo to Manning in any way. Pathetic.

The team owner just did this very thing not two weeks ago, hence, the obvious relevance.

And it's not like we don't have a Romo golf thread every other week of the offseason, so, there's some more relevance there.

And then every third or fourth week we have a round-about regarding Jerry Jones and meddling and/or undermining his head coaches, so there's more relevance there.

If you're not capable or interested about discussing the topic in an appropriate context, that's fine. Just remember that the next time you want to make a similar obvious comparison between these two players or about their preparation.

So Peyton is a better golfer, too.
Shame on you.:laugh2:

fwiw; I think Romo has the better handicap. Supposedly Rodgers is pretty decent as well.

Peyton likes to go hunting and fishing too. Just some useless trivia...
