Rush always grades well and people don't want to give him praise
If Rush was about 20% more athletic and had a 20% better arm he would actually be a serviceable NFL starter in my opinion.

Dude sees the game and knows where the ball has to be when. I imagine he developed this skillset because he had to compensate for never being a supreme athlete at every level up to the NFL.

bottom of the barrel....lets get off the no way game Trey Lance will become our next franchise QB....just sign Dak....when you play games with your good players they feel you dont4

Well, actually... when he got hurt vs. the Raiders in the 1Q of preseason game 3 last year, they were trying him at RT. So we don't know what we don't know... that could still be seen as an option if he can stay healthy.

If.

My guess is that they want to give Waletzko every chance to make an impression before they start experimenting with Ball again. But it's a short preseason, of course, so this next game's significance for O-linemen hopeful to make the 53-man can't be overestimated.
And he still looked awful at RT last preseason when they tried him there again. I don't think the position is an option for him. He showed then that he's strictly a guard.

I wish Waletzko was getting some snaps at LT because I think like Ball, he may be good at one spot but not at another. Ever since they put Waletzko on the right side, he has struggled. It can be a tough transition for some players.

Ultimately, I don't think either makes the roster. I think we'll keep Guyton, Smith, Hoffman, Martin, Steele, Edoga, Richards, Beebe, Bass and Thomas. The only hope for either is that they can do enough to convince Dallas to put Thomas on the PS.

Now we know why the 49ers cut lance .
Cowboys need CeeDee back and solve the Running game.

Um.

He sustained his injury in the first possession of the one game he played RT last preseason... tried to come back, but left the game later in the quarter.

(Why all the Ball hate around here? It's not just gimmesix... I've never understood it. And don't tell me I'm imagining things... almost no back-up O-lineman has ever generated such universal condemnation.)

I don't hate Ball. I've defended him as a guard and still do. He's just not a very good tackle and what I saw of him last season at that position was further proof of what we've seen before. Maybe, as you seem to be indicating, he just hasn't gotten enough opportunity there, but it doesn't seem like the Cowboys want to see him there, either.

I can't stand the word hate anyway. It gets used too much when someone doesn't agree with an opinion. There's no Cowboys player that I hate. That doesn't mean I can't be critical of their play if it is deserved. Ball has not looked good at RT whenever he's been given the chance. He has looked good at guard.

what I saw of him last season at that position
What other conclusion might you suggest we come to, then...???

You didn't see him any more than the rest of us saw him "at that position" last season, right? Was there a secretive 4th game that only a select few like yourself got to see?

C'mon.

Cowboys kinda have to make some decisions on Waletzko, as much as they do Ball. It's no mystery why Ball's not getting any snaps at RT, when he's first got to try to win a job as a guard. But this time last year, he did so well at guard, they wanted to see if they could make him something like a right-side specialist, not unlike how they've kept Tyler Smith on the left side at either position. Didn't work out. Got hurt.

I would believe it. He plays like Kurt Warner stuck in a gas station clerk’s body. The brain and football IQ is there but his body just will not cooperate.

I remember seeing him at RT on multiple snaps and him looking like he did before. Maybe it wasn't just in the preseason games. That's too far back for me to remember details. All I know is that he showed he doesn't need to play tackle.

Can't remember if they kicked Ball back out there to the position because Waletzko got hurt, but it certainly was not an improvement.

Any conclusion that a fan hates a player because he doesn't agree with you about him is the wrong conclusion to come to. I doubt we'll see Ball at tackle ever again. That's not necessarily the end of his career, though, because he has looked good at guard when given the chance. I don't know if it's enough to get a roster spot here, but considering that Waletzko struggled at RT again and we have not even seen Thomas, I'd have Ball ahead of them for a spot. For that matter, I'd probably have Ball ahead of Edoga.

That's a dodge, and not all that clever a one at that.

Whatever snaps he's ever had at RT, it has been sparse. He was considered for LT at first. And he was and is being considered at RG since April 2023 when McCarthy mentioned in a presser they were moving him there. Then, somewhat out of nowhere, they decided for the 3rd game of last preseason to start him at RT... got hurt in the first series according to reports, and though he tried to stay in the game, ultimately he didn't even make it out of the first quarter.

Sparse.

And yet, you're hell-bent on making a determination of whether he can possibly play RT.

The logic is the logic. I don't make the rules of logic, I just know what they are, and I don't pretend they don't exist.

In this case, there has to be some other explanation for your hell-bent-ed-ness. The Occam's Razor is... there's some other factor driving that attitude, other than what we can watch on film.

Anyone have the defense grades? I thought Kneeland played well, but Mazi was so-so.
