Seems like Moore and Irving have been our most consistent DEs throughout the entire offseason. Guess who'll be suspended to start the season?

We need to hope that Crawford returns and is healthy to bolster the position. He's a better end/player than many seem to think he is. He and Lawrence can be pretty solid starters as Charlton hopefully grows into one. Mayowa is a good rotational player, too.

One thing PFF doesn't take into account is that Irving and Moore were mainly playing against backups that they should beat regularly.

Wish there were a way to compare their subjective grades to what the Cowboys staff grades them out to.

Hey Phoenix, how are things with you? We bit the bullet on our hurricane, down in Corpus Christi.

Take care, my friend...

It doesn't count on stat sheets, but if I'm grading a QB I'm taking into account that he threw a bad pass that should have been intercepted, unless it was a free play (such as offside). The penalty came after Rush made his bad throw, so I'm all for that being held against him.

I like Rush and think he deserves to be kept over Moore as the backup QB, but I'm not going to overlook his mistakes and it doesn't bother me that PFF isn't, either, when grading him.

Ok what if the wr ran the wrong route? Does pff know this? Especially when they release there grades minutes after the game?

Not sure I get the relevance in this case. It was clearly a back-shoulder attempt that Rush failed to execute. I'm not saying PFF's grades are accurate and fair in all cases, and I take them with a grain of salt, but in this case, Rush clearly made a mistake, so I don't mind him being called out for it.

I'm not sure why some are rushing to defend Rush on this. He has played well overall, but he made a poor throw there. Not sure it was a poor decision, although that was the third time he tried to connect with Butler on that kind of throw, but the throw wasn't where it needed to be to give Butler a shot at the catch.

To be fair they are doing most of their work against backups and third-teamers. Lawrence will never be dominant but he is winning his fair share in both run and pass against starters and has continued to show great hustle on plays past the LOS.

Based on the rating you would think he had a crappy game..the guy was nearly perfect outside of that non-play. Kind of ridiculous when you think about it.

Oh, I don't care about their rating. It's a meaningless number. The criticism of the near-interception was what I was addressing. Some seem to be saying it should be ignored because of the penalty so it essentially doesn't matter that he made a bad throw. If the bad throw had occurred because he was trying to take advantage of a penalty, then I would agree, but it didn't.

However, ultimately, it's just one among a few bad throws that he has made this preseason so it's nothing really worth debating. I can nitpick about seven bad throws Dak made last year (four that were intercepted; three that should have been), but that doesn't really reflect how well he's played. ... And I guess that's your point concerning Rush. PFF's putting more weight on the bad throw than what else he's done.

However, as I said, I could care less about PFF's rating. I just didn't like seeing some trying to make an excuse for it IMO.
