Seems way too low to me.
Inconsistent with offensive production too.

54 Beebe
57 Smith
53 Booker
37 Guyton
57 Steele

I know some of you think PFF is just garbage, but generally I've found them tracking performance reasonably. But not here with the oline.

Any published oline rankings out there for the first 2 games?

You usually like their valuations just not if it does not fit your opinion. Thats an honest and good approach.

The eyeball test says that the OL has been poor at pass blocking and really good at run blocking. It's been more of a mixed bag than an across-the-board disaster.

Do you think there is a correlation between your valuation that our OL is good at run blocking and us being 30th in the league in running the ball?

We are not 30th in running the ball. We are 11th in rush yards per game and 17th in rush attempts.

We are 30th in run pass distribution.

We pass a lot because we cant run the ball.

Where did you get those stats from?

Your correlation is bunk (ie. We don’t run the ball a lot because we suck at it).

Despite U.S. being 30th in run/pass distribution, we are 11th in rushing yards which indicates we are highly successful/efficient at running the ball when we do.

I’m not surprised. Dak’s play so far is coloring fan perfection in the offensive line play.

He’s getting the ball out fast, showing more pocket awareness than usual and his improved physicality so far is allowing him to escape better than last year.

When do my rewatch I tend to focus on line play and it just looks like Dak is under siege.

We are average in runs per game, but we have run a ton of plays and the actual distribution leans heavy toward the pass. Since defenses are keying on the pass, I think they don’t stack the box at all which allows good ypc.

Bottom line for me is that both lines have been poor and need to show significant improvement

Do you happen to have their Run blocking grade and Pass blocking grades?

Overall, I think the line still isn't great as an unit.
Both Tackles are under par, but at least Guyton is still raw/chance to improve.
Main surprise is Tyler Smith, but can't remember who he lined up against in both games.

We are a good run blocking line and a below average pass blocking line. Since each play is graded as a separate event (as it should be, because it is), and since we spend 64% of our plays passing, i.e. doing what the o-line is least good at doing, this should not surprise anyone.

Its only been 2 games. Too small of a sample to worry about grades. In addition, the Eagles and Giants have ELITE Dlines. Two of the best in the whole league

We all know and have seen, if you are watching, that our OTs are not very good. Booker has struggled with stunts, not surprising for a rookie.

We have run more pass plays than run plays because:
  • We played Philly and that’s likely the game plan for all teams on their schedule
  • We have played from behind a lot in the second half
  • Our stars are the WRs and QB
We have been very successful in the run game because we are sticking with it and having enough success to force teams to respect it, which helps our pass game. This is in contrast with recent seasons teams had no fear of our run game. Having Williams break a few gash runs, along with the big run by Sanders in just two games is already far beyond last year’s production. We run for balance, for time of possession, for red zone success.

They have not been great, funny Hoffman higher than any of them, hope he can continue it as the others get better.

The pass blocking has been dreadful, so these grades pretty much align with the eye test.

They’ve gone up against good DLs but man the pass blocking has been really bad IMO, especially Steele

We are 30th in run pass distribution.

We pass a lot because we cant run the ball.

Where did you get those stats from?
That run pass distribution stat won't accurately tell you anything about how good or bad you are at run or pass. Especially after only 2 games. All it tells you is that you passed or ran more. A team that sucks at passing and is better at running will still pass more if they are losing by a big margin.
