I'm not going to defend any of these one way or the other in terms of PFF as a whole and this individual game.

Offense Overall -5.8 (Passing -2.1, Rushing +2.4, Pass Blocking 1.2, Run Blocking -4.1, Penalties -3.2)
This was 19 of 28 teams having been graded

Defense Overall -10.0 (Run Def -4.5, Pass Rush 3.3, Pass Cov -10.4, Penalty 1.6)
This was 20 of 28 teams having been graded

Special Teams -2.1
This was 24 of 28 teams having been graded

Offensive notables (one way or the other):
Free +2.4
Murray +2.2
Harris +1.1
Leary -5.1
Romo -4.6
Witten -1.8
Hanna -1.1

Defensive notables:
Mincey +2.5
McClain +2.2
Church +1.2
Carr -4.0
Claiborne -2.7

Sorry but didn't the offensive tackles have the worst game on the O-line? People said Fred had the game of his career, Martin looked like a beast, and Leary was killing people. But somehow Leary had the worst game of anyone on the team and Free had the best?

I didn't watch Leary that closely but by this, he played an awful game.

Romo... yeah he stuck.

Carr? Just setting himself up to either A. Have his salary reduced or B. Be released after this season.

Pleased with the two kids, Coleman and Bishop. The Niners have a good OL and having each guy check in with just a shade negative game is a good sign.

BTW Hayden checked in with his first positive performance since....

Last season's opener.

So run blocking was a -4.1 but running was a +2.4. I guess Murray is great in spite of an awful O-line.

The problem with PFF is that don't use the All-22. I like the metrics that they do have but the grading needs to be better IMO with coaches tape.

Very hard to grade certain positions based on the broadcast angles and also not having the playcalls.

For example the sack on Tony Romo by Justin Smith. Tyron and the rest of the OL zone run blocked to the right. That's not Tyron's fault for Romo changing the play.

I think they are giving Leary the blame on some of the stuff we put on Tyron

Their comments on pass coverage are easily dismissed. They cannot see the field.

I thought Rolando McClain and Bruce Carter played well

How does Leary rate worse than a QB who throws three picks and missed numerous other throws?
