I'm sure the Cowboys would want to play every game like they did against the 49ers.
They got the early lead after their botched punt return and we controlled the game from there. They were never a threat. It was all smooth sailing against a bad team.
As the level of competition ramps up, it's going to be more difficult to dictate the pace of the game. Sometimes the flow of the game doesn't allow 25 carries for Zeke, especially against a very good run defense.
They offense has to execute like they did against San Fran. But I expect it to be much tougher going forward.
I won't argue what you're saying, it's certainly a factor. But my point is that you can't do something if you stop trying. It's that simple really.
Linehan has never needed a great excuse to get away from the running game. He fancies himself a genius and the running game is too "boring" for him and doesn't allow him to show how "smart" he thinks he is. Garrett was the same way.
People like to claim that game situations "forced" them to abandon the running game, but facts never support it.
Let this team do what they do. Play to your strengths and your investments in the offensive line and running game. And if you get beat doing that? Fine. You get beat because the other team outplayed you, not because you failed to play to your own strengths.
Go down swinging.
