PFF: Top 25 Most Productive Pass Rushers (Ware #11)

Chris Canty and Stephen Bowen are on the worst list. I knew Von Miller would be near the top.

just another example of how stupid most of their so called stats are. I have not heard that a single pro team uses them either; which is very telling.

Does this take into account the constant double teams and chips Ware continually faces? And who would double team Carlos Dunlap? Has Carlos Dunlap faced 2 blockers even once in his NFL career?

This is all garbage.

I would measure productivity a bit differently. Certainly a big part of this is how double and triple teams a guy takes and how much pressure that generates from other positions. For example, on one play in the Dolphin game, Ware was being blocked by Long, Incognito, and Pouncey at the same time. That opens up so much more room for everyone else.

I'd like to see the amount of double teams applied in those calculations as well.

I think it's an interesting list.

There's probably some validity to it.

Near as I can tell it doesn't factor in anything except how many pressures a guy has compared to how many times he's rushed. So, no accounting for how much attention a guy gets. Yeah, pretty much useless. :laugh2:

The mathematical fallacies inherent in PFF's formulas and ranking systems (this one included) have been pointed out numerous times. Suffice to say it's a VERY simplistic system that is subject to significant errors. These can be fixed very easily (in an afternoon) if you understand how to fix them. I just don't think they do.

The site is a great source of information. I'm a subscriber. I just think they're lacking in some areas -- particularly their ranking systems.

If they took into consideration of when the sacks are made, then Ware would be way down on the list. We all know none of his sacks occur when it matters.

I hope this is sarcasm.

You’d all be wrong because actually the most productive pass rusher in the NFL is Carlos Dunlap.

I'm sure this very in-depth (sarcasm) article accounted for each offense's targeted focus on defense and what kind of protection schemes each player faces.

Cuz yeah... Carlos Dunlap getting the same amount of attention from offenses and has the same amount of blockers thrown at him as Demarcus Ware....

Interesting, both Skins rushers are on there, but noway is this thing perfect with Ware at #11 though. Also, Campbell of Arizona is on there for inside rushers, still think we need to give him a long look in the offseason.

I do find it interesting that Ware is the only Cowboy to make any of the lists, which might actually be about right.

I will say that the article brought up one good point, QB hits go a long way toward a good pass rush and we as a team seem to either get a sack or do not touch the QB.

I think that is the nastiness this Defense is missing.

I know you have to be careful these days but I would like to see that line get challenged a bit more.

I think it's more of a problem with some guys not being able to cover long enough to allow the rush to reach the QB.
