Our GM strongly believes it is a passing league. Coaches will talk about the importance of fixing the run game on offense and defense and we will continue to add players to back fill or improve our passing offense and defense.Either way, this is interesting for a player we extended for $20M and passed on the chance to draft a more complete ( strong pass rusher AND run defender ) CHEAPER DT.
Complimentary football. Some people can't comprehend it or just don't understand how the game is played.LBers don’t shine without a DLine ahead of them. Remember how much Urlacher struggled when their DLine was poor?
PFF is just one way to look at things. Humans are grading players so some of it is arbitrary.I think that is more of PFF bs more than anything.
Whaaaa?Agreed taken as a whole he's a great package.
We have a Top 25 interior defensive lineman. Nobody will ever be able to take that away from us.25. OSA ODIGHIZUWA, DALLAS COWBOYS
Odighizuwa struggled in run defense last year en route to a 50.8 PFF run-defense grade, but the entire Cowboys defense followed suit, so perhaps it came down to coaching. He did earn a 78.0-plus PFF pass-rush grade for the second season in a row.

I agree. For one Osa would be higher on any list. He was second in pressures and had a 12.3% pressure rating which was near the top of the leagueThat ranking is silly.

Guess he had bad coaching in college too then.Maybe its coaching. Hopefully it was because that is our only hope.
We didnt do much about the players so if they are the reason for the bad play... god help us.
I just wonder how often we changed defensive coordinators with the hope it was the coaches or the wrong system....makes someone start to think. No? Ok....
You have to embrace assurances though. We know Osa is good; any drafted player to replace a proven player could be a bust. The worst thing Dallas could have done was dump their best DT in a decade so they could gamble in the draft and hope they get 2 starting qualities playersEither way, this is interesting for a player we extended for $20M and passed on the chance to draft a more complete ( strong pass rusher AND run defender ) CHEAPER DT.
No, 25 is not a bad rating.25 is a poor rating. He’s one of the better pass rushing DT’s in the league
This. You don't take chances when you have a winning hand. Osa is a good DT and they needed to ensure they had a good one. Not one that might be really good in 3 years. You have to embrace assurances though. We know Osa is good; any drafted player to replace a proven player could be a bust. Well run teams attack your weaknesses.FWIW, Osa had to defend the 12th most rush plays by an interior DL in the league.
Thats insane for a 3T pass rushing guy.
That is completely fair. They love them a 5th round comp.Well run teams attack your weaknesses.
Bad GM's don't fix their weaknesses.
Seems like common sense.
With $32M still in cap space, we could not have added a DT in FA? Or are we more concerned about our future 5th round comp picks?

Good against the pass but still weak against the run + wants at least 10 million a year. There's a reason why he's on his 4th team since leaving.Collin’s turned into a solid player
It also helps his view/image in retrospect since the day 2 draft DTs that were planned to succeed him didn't do squat (Hill and Gallimore). He was not a bad player here. He's the kind of player you're not going to pay big money to and likely look to replace. But guys like Collins tend to hang around and build 10+ season NFL careers.
He actually had a pretty good grade against the run in 2023Osa is a pass rush DT. His strength has never been against the run. That’s why it’s so important to have a run stuffing 1T and MLB in this defense. Unfortunately we don’t have either.
