PFF Top 32 TEs

Pitts was a terrible evaluation.
He was always a tweener type that played more as a WR in college.

Never should have gone top 10.
Take him at 25 and let him play a flex WR position with some in-line and he is a solid value.
That was my stance. I looked at his tape and he looked like a receiver. So his advantages in college weren’t going to look as good against guys at linebacker who are out of this world athletes as well.

Dudes measurements were just a shade below Calvin Johnson's and his tape was very good. Dude was absolutely a generational talent. It just didn't work out
The difference is one could really play the other was a projection.
Johnson had DOUBLE the receiving yardage and TDs in the same number of seasons and came out as ACC player of the year.

Pitts never reached a 775-yard season.

He was easily the best TE prospect in a generation. You have to go back to Vernon Davis for someone that was even close. He had good tape and athletic ability on par or better than most of the best WR's in the game. It's not really debatable whether or not he  was a generational talent. Saying he wasnt is revisionism. He just busted
Yeah the tape I saw looked like a receiver playing tight end. Vernon I get he was big and strong and ran a 4.3.

This isn’t revionist history at all I said Falcons were stupid at the time for doing it. I’m the guy who says never take a tight end round 1. Never. Even with Bowers last year. Clearly I was wrong there he’s a good one. Worthy of his position.

Perfectly said. Megatron showed he could do it. The other was projecting what he could do and I like Pitts but all I ever disagreed about was him changing the position. People may not remember now but the hype was incredible.

It can work in the right offense and right TE position. Shannon Sharpe was a WR playing hback TE. Jay Novacek was more of a WR playing TE as well.

Scholtz was a more explosive TE, both are not worth resigning. I'm much more concerned with how Pickens will work out.

I'm actually expecting our WR corps to make things much easier for our TEs in 2025. They may serve to take some of the attention away from the lesser threats of big trouble. Lamb and Pickens should certainly serve to attract some, if not most, of the attention away from our TEs. Opposing DBs should have their hands full, for sure. They can only double cover, so many threats.
Probably true but Ferguson has to handle being hit which is scary. Once concussion issues start it can end careers in a hurry. TE is a tough position to have that battle.
Schoonover was PFF's 29th best member of the Dalals offense last year which is LOL. 11 spots below Zeke Elliott.....
He was truly abysmal as a run blocker.

I don’t deny Pitts can work. I’d take him
In Dallas today. But the pre hype is what I was against. He was billed as something we’ve never seen before and I just didn’t see that.

I seriously doubt he is below 12M if he healthy.
Lots of ho hum TEs making 12M including Schultz.
If he matches 2023 totals; he might see 4 years and 55M. ((that is realistically 3 years and 40M))
He will make more, just due to how contracts work, were dumb if we consider resigning him.

Dallas could have had:

The 13th ranked TE
and
The 17th ranked TE
and
a Second Round draft pick

Or....

The 17th ranked TE.

Jerry chose the latter. Amateur GM at work. Not hard to figure out why Dallas hasn't sniffed a championship in a long time.

True, but what the hell is going on with Kyle Pitts ( Falcons )? Dude was supposed to be the next generation TE.
From what I have heard the Falcons just plain didn't use him for a while. Don't know if it was because of scheme or if he did something to land in the coaches' doghouse or what.

The 13th ranked TE in the entire NFL cannot be considered a JAG. Sorry.
I mean that’s how it is look at those names….Taysom Hill….its probably 7 or 8 top tier tight ends…

What makes you think they wouldn’t have drafted Luke? They had Ferg and Hendershot and still drafted Luke and would’ve taken La Porta if he was available.
