Also... Bowers is as much a BIG Slot WR as he is a TE
I probably wouldn’t take a slot-only receiver too 20 either. You’re just limiting the ceiling on the pick
 
You're right in the sense that Dallas would not pay Schultz his asking price. However the difference between what Dallas offered, and what Houston actually paid was not great. So yes- if Dallas had increased it's offer slightly, Schultz could have been retained. "For a few dollars more".

Houston is a smart franchise on the rise. Sadly Dallas is not.
Houston paid the higher price and only signed him to a one year deal. A 59-635 year.

Then they gave him a 3 year $36M deal and he produced.....53-532.

Cowboys made the right decision.
