I'm loving the combination of Brain Sshottenhiemer and Bobby Slowik. Say no to Mcadoo.......In fact, hard no (lol)

Top candidates for Dallas Cowboys to replace Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator

• Mike McCarthy taking over as play caller: While the Dallas Cowboys are in the market for a new offensive coordinator, play-calling won't be on that position's list of duties, as McCarthy appears to be taking the reins on offense.

• Retread candidates: Both Brian Schottenheimer and Scott Turner have the kind of offensive coordinator experience that Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy can rely on if hired.

• Young up-and-comers: Even though Zac Robinson and Bobby Slowik don't have any offensive coordinator experience, both could inject some cutting-edge wrinkles that could help optimize the Cowboys' offense moving forward

His name isn't mentioned but I just read there's a connection between MM and Kliff Kingsbury.
Kingsbury was the Saint's practice squad in 2004 when MM was the OC. It also says MM has spoken multiple times over the past few years about how highly he thinks of Kingsbury. Probably doesn't mean anything but you never know.

He isn’t leaving Thailand and a beautiful woman and 20 million bucks to be here one year with McCarthy. He can’t coach an offensive line either.

I agree but you never........this could be the perfect situation to lay low for a couple of years and then put your back in the hat. But I'm willing to bet a red penny Jerry and/or MM have reached out to gauge his interest.

Scott Turner is related to Norv Turner and he is a product of the rhythm time based offense that was Kellen Moore - why would we bring that back and under an even lesser , ineffective OC.

Not sure how you write that article and fail to cite the likelihood that Panthers' OC Ben McAdoo is on the radar.

Indeed, based on this comment from the new HC's intro presser, he's anticipating a replacement in Charlotte..........
"I'm excited about the prospects of some of the guys that are out there that could be our offensive coordinator, so I'll wait to make the final decision on that."
But the suspicion here is that Nixon was recommended by McAdoo... which probably signals that McAdoo isn't interested in the OC* (asterisk added) job in DAL.

No one with Kingsbury's resume is likely to be interested in an OC* job... they're looking to call plays, imo.

When these guys are hired it’s what they do. Look at Quinn.1-2 years and you’re back up top

i would have my doubt about that

This would not be Kingsbury's offense ... and Kliff would very likely prefer to run his own offense under his control.

Also Jerry is not gonna pay out big money for a OC unless it's his to run - ala Kellen Moore

Forgive me, but I don't know what that means. Quinn calls and has always called the defense.

OCs who do not call plays are not typically at the top of HC vacancy shopping lists... it's a step up for a Nixon, a step down for a Kingsbury.

He can’t coach anything. He made his name on Mahomes’ cape and rode it for all its worth.

Quinn could have left to be a head coach this year. That’s what it means. Fired head coaches go back to being coordinators for a few year and, if they’re successful, are right back in the fold as head coaching candidates.

Sorry. I didn’t literally mean he comes here and doesn’t call plays. 0% chance of that. It’s the reason Bieniemy struggles

I meant in general guys in his situation go somewhere, dominate and get head coaching jobs the following year or two.

Another name I've heard is Klint Kubiak. He's the passing coordinator and QB coach for the Vikes. His brother, Klein Kubiak is an area scout for the Cowboys.

interesting read.
thanks for posting.
names i like from that article...
•brian johnson,eagles...his previous history with dak at miss st...and what he's done in philly...impressive...i'd love him here.
•zac robinson,rams...love to see what he and coach mccarthy could come up with...dak is excellent with fake handoffs...rams love to use play-action.
rams use pre-snap motions...and when mccarthy was o.c.,i believe he used them also...be an interesting pairing.
•bobby slowik,49ers...its a tough offense to deal with...i'd love those concepts incorporated into big mc's.
•brian schottenhdimer,cowboys consultant...hope he brings his daddy's run game.
plus the off. players are familiar with him...mccarthy as well..so that is an advantage.

Thread title has some typos. Should read:

"Top candidates to become Dak's new scapegoat for the next 2-3 years"
yet it was dak who went to bat for kellen to get the o.c. job to begin with.

this place,man.
