I have read a couple of other tweets about his game Sunday..........one of his best games as OG per one. We may have to start thinking of making this his home position.
I don't disagree with this. Was hoping before this preseason that it might be Waletzko that lets us keep Tyler at guard, but Richards played pretty well at LT in the preseason. Of course, it's a whole different level in the regular season, I'm OK giving it a little time, but I absolutely would love for Richards to claim that spot because I believe Smith can be Zack Martin-esque at guard.Tyler is an All Pro guard. I say lets see what we have in Richards at LT.
I think the reason that has been given is because they are not expecting Tyron to miss much time, so they see no reason to bounce Tyler back and forth between guard and tackle. I don't think Edoga has been terrible stepping in for Tyron at left tackle, but we certainly could use some improvement there. My guess is that is why he hasn't been kicked back out to LT. He would probably be a very good one, but he has a chance to be an All-pro type guard. I think Asim Richards has a chance to be the future at LT.
We need to find out before next year's draft cuz from my understanding it's loaded with blue-chip OTsMy guess is that is why he hasn't been kicked back out to LT. No you don't. If a top OT is the best player available in the draft, you take him, I don't care who you have on your roster. Never shy away from drafting OL just because it's not a "need." It's always a need.We need to find out before next year's draft cuz from my understanding it's loaded with blue-chip OTs
Either way you still draft one. It's a deep draft and you can never have too much depth in the trenches. We need to find out before next year's draft cuz from my understanding it's loaded with blue-chip OTs
He wasn't great at LT last year. He was okay, but definitely overrated here. He was impressive for a rookie who looked coming in like he needed a lot of development to handle tackle, but he wasn't "great." But you're right that a tackle is so much more valuable than a guard that you don't want to close the door on him *becoming* a great one, which certainly seems like it's in the range of outcomes for him.I thought Tyler was great at T last year and it's one of the most important positions. Edoga has been serviceable at LT and I'm assuming Smith will be back soon. I'm also thinking this is likely his last year. Ideally Richards becomes an awesome )) LT and we can leave Tyler at LG but if not I think it'd be better to move him to LT and look for a LG in the draft or free agency.
Unless you could have both and that’s what we should do and I’m sure they are considering attempting that. But without using a high pickA good LT is way more valuable than an All-Pro guard.
We've always known Tyler was a mauler in the run game, the big question has always been, how much will the pass blocking develop and can he do it in space out at tackle. If he can get to where he can do that at a high level, then he should almost certainly move out to LT. Obviously, it depends on who else is on the roster.
I think they're doing the right thing with him this year, though. Tyron should be starting at LT when healthy (I know, I know), and they're better off not bouncing Tyler in and out. But making him a tackle should be the long-term plan.
Tyron, starting and LT are three words you should never mention in the same sentence (LOL)Tyron should be starting at LT

Sure. You may end up keeping him at LG based on what happens with your roster. But they shouldn't make that plan A.Unless you could have both and that’s what we should do and I’m sure they are considering attempting that. But without using a high pick
