Sure. You may end up keeping him at LG based on what happens with your roster. But they shouldn't make that plan A.
I think that was plan A initially since they think he can be a good OT. But I think they will leave him at G as long as smith is here. Then it depends on if you have a better or equal option at tackle. It’s easier to find a good guard than a good tackle. And I think Bass could develop into a good guard. Hopefully we can develop a tackle too. Options are what you want

A good LT is way more valuable than an All-Pro guard.

We've always known Tyler was a mauler in the run game, the big question has always been, how much will the pass blocking develop and can he do it in space out at tackle. If he can get to where he can do that at a high level, then he should almost certainly move out to LT. Obviously, it depends on who else is on the roster.

I think they're doing the right thing with him this year, though. Tyron should be starting at LT when healthy (I know, I know), and they're better off not bouncing Tyler in and out. But making him a tackle should be the long-term plan.
I respectfully disagree bro. With Tyler's youth, strength and aggressiveness, he is showing he is much better staying put at Left Guard. Whether block straight up man at the line of scrimmage or going down to the 2nd level or even when trapping or pulling, Tyler is proving he is definitely better playing at Left Guard where we can best take advantage of his abilities.

Asim Richards has the size and athletic mobility to become a good Left Tackle. He just needs to keep improving his strength and base in the weight room while needing some in-game experience.

This is a tough spot. Because we still have Tyron...and with his injury history I'd say Tyler needs to be the LT....but if I have Tyler Smith playing as one of the best guards in the league? Then I don't move him. I get the Cowboys reluctance to not move him. I didn't before but I'm starting to see what they see. This might be Larry Allen all over again where he can be an All Pro at any position he wants. Might have to keep him at guard for this season.

So, Zach isn't even the best G on the team but somehow he's the best in the league?

I know many defenders are going to say "well, Zach's been banged up". That's fair ... but it wouldn't matter.

Ya'll think I say this to tick you off. I say it cause 70 is on the decline & has been for a while now. Note, I didn't say he was bad or anything like that. Just that he isn't the best G in football and hasn't been recently. His own team rarely runs behind him when they need a yard. They have better options.

#71 is a tremendous liability outside protecting Dak's blindside. The Cowboys should switch #71 and #73 when the situation presents itself.
