Ian Cummings with Pro Football Network just put out this 3 round Mock today.

He has Pitts falling to Detroit at pick 7, which is where he might need to fall for Dallas to attempt a trade up.

In this mock he has Atlanta at 4 taking Lance, Cincy at 5 taking Sewell and Miami at 6 taking Chase, which is pretty close to what I’ve been predicting.

Carolina took Mac Jones at 8 and Denver went with JOK at 9, which might not be that far fetched because I think Fangio loves Koramoah.

He then has Dallas taking JayCee Horn at 10 over Surtain, who falls to Philly at 12, with NY taking WR Smith in between.

Anyway, it is an interesting mock and the guys at PFN are usually pretty good.

I don't think it's a for gone conclusion that the team has Surtain over Horn. They both are rated in the same range. Each team might have different rankings based on their system. Some believe Surtain could go to Carolina, but it's also possible they take the local guy in Horn if they went corner.

I absolutely agree. I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if they like Horn over Surtain. And if that’s what they do, I’m not going to blame them one bit. Horn is a very good prospect and both he and Surtain are very close anyway. They may love his attitude or his explosion.

Either would be a good pick, IMO.

I've seen worse!

I also usually look at the haul the Jags and Jets get due to all their picks this year....nice. Talk about a rebuild
:omg:

Jags
Trevor Lawrence, QB
Gregory Rousseau, DE
Trevon Moering, S
Alex Leatherwood, OT
Bobby Brown, DT

Jets
Zach Wilson, QB
Zaven Collins, LB
Caleb Farely, CB
Michael Carter, RB
Jevon Hollins S/CB

I’m okay with the picks but I’d rather a bigger DT at 99. I know we lost Crawford as a tweaner guy but our run defense needs to be fixed and IMO it’s not gonna be done with Odigizuwa. We need someone that will push the pocket and stop O-linemen getting to the second level.

Well if Quinn wants that Richard Sherman competitiveness Horn fits the bill.

It will probably be a CB at 10 like last year they've left that vacancy open.
A safety would be nice but Levi would be my pick.
Turner would be a good addition.

Don't see Carolina taking Mac Jones at 8 with Darnold signed..they like Surtain or they go O-line Sewell or Slater. They could trade out with NE who could target Mac there and they could look for Horn or Slater at 15.

The great thing about Mock Drafts is none of them are 100% correct so who can criticize? LOL

I see a lot of mocks have the Giants going for a WR. Don't be surprised if they take Slater if he is available, or even reach for an offensive lineman.

As for the Cowboys, I am one of those guys who is not completely sold on Grant. But I admit I have not seen as much of him as I'd like to. Not critical of the pick, in this mock. Going CB, S is probably the best move the Cowboys could make in the draft.. I have a bigger problem with the 3rd round picks. I would go with Walker Little at 99 if he is available, as he is in this mock draft. He will solve the depth at OT problem and I think he can take over for either Tyron or La'el if one of them should get hurt.

But notice how there are good solid CB prospects at 44 and 75? at 44, Tyson Campbell and Elijah Molden are both available. Stokes is available at 44. I like Horn a lot and think he is going to be a good CB in the NFL. But if the Cowboys trade down, they can possibly get a good CB, like Stokes, or Campbell, and get Grant too. After trading down, maybe the take Barmore, or Jamin Davis. Both of these players would improve the Cowboys defense. Davis makes the defense a lot faster and they need speed on defense badly.

Yeah, mocks are simply opinions, so it is hard to criticize them that much. How we think it should go instead... well that’s just an opinion too.

Speaking for myself, I think Horn and Surtain are significantly better than the next tier of corners, so I would (will) completely understand picking one of them at 10.

However, there are some corners in the next tier that I do like a good bit. Newsome and Stokes, in particular are guys that I would target if pick 10 isn’t a CB. The problem there, I think, is that both of them could very likely be gone at 44. Then, your down to the next tier of guys (IMO) that might have 44 being a little too high for them. Guys like Adebo, Melinfonwu, Campbell... so do you reach at 44 for them or do you hope one slides to your first pick in the third? If they don’t make it there... you’re now down to your 4th tier of corners.

It is a slippery slope, especially when we’re kind of needing an impact at the starting corner spot opposite Diggs. That is why I completely understand just getting one of the two really good corners at 10.

Of course you could go get a vet corner in free agency after the draft like Richard Sherman, so all wouldn’t be lost if you just don’t get a good corner in the draft. If a guy like Pitts does fall and he ends up being the pick... you don’t have to reach badly on a corner at 44 just because you need a starter. You can follow your board and if a DT you love is there at 44... or a safety you love... you can take that opportunity and bring in a vet corner.

The most likely option though is probably Surtain or Horn at 10... and that is a very good choice IMO.
