Haynesworth the target of Arrington's latest rant

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 23, 2010 11:59 AM ET

Last month we pointed out that former Commanders linebacker and current D.C. radio host LaVar Arrington had directed an epic rant at Commanders running back Clinton Portis. Now Arrington has gone off on a rant directed at Albert Haynesworth that's just as powerful.

You can read the transcript here, but if you can do it without getting in trouble at work you're better off just listening to the whole thing here. It's worth a few minutes of your time.

Arrington says Haynesworth is in the wrong for working out with his own personal trainer, rather than participating in the Commanders' voluntary offseason workouts.

"This is a red flag, Albert," Arrington said. "This is a red flag. Be a part of the solution, not a part of the problem. I understand, listen, I ain't trying to be in your pocket. I'll be the last one to try to be in your pocket. But if you're saying you want to work out and do this heavy stuff with your guy, bring him here. Bring him here."

Arrington says Haynesworth needs to consider the effect that not working out with his team will have on the way he's perceived by his teammates -- especially considering the fact that there's already a perception that Haynesworth isn't contributing enough on the field.

"If you had more accountability, you wouldn't be laying yourself down on the ground like you did during the course of the season last year. If you had more accountability you would have came in ready, where you would have got up," Arrington said.

Ultimately, Arrington warns Haynesworth that if he doesn't shape up, "all's you will be known as is the guy that came to Washington and was a part of a long list of free agents that came here, took money, did nothing, and left. If that's what you want your legacy to be, by all means, let that be your legacy."

dude, he was the next LT dont you remember.....cmon any skins fan will tell you how great he was.

He came on the radio down here with newy scruggs and ritchie whitt the week we went to washington in december. He was so agitated that the cowboys are better, he just repeatedly said romo stinks and they will fall apart.

I feel bad for the people up there that these are there options on the radio.

This clown with that ****** john thompson, I would rather listen to the wind blow...what a horrible area for sports radio.

True. He may have a point, but he's the last guy who should be popping off. He has no "cred" in DC to speak of.

Arrington doesn't have enough sand in his saddle bags to say what he said with any credibility, but:

It was good...boy, it was good.

It got ME fired up..

then I remembered about the pains after the weekend warrior b-ball and softball games, and I quickly came back to my senses.

Man I love when Commanders sign players for fat contracts and they turn sour.

That was excellent. Whether arrington has enough skins on the wall isn't the point. He's calling out a guy because of his contract who's supposed to act like a leader and he isn't. When you sign the contract he signed that comes with a certain responsibilty. Arrington had valid points all the way around.
