VINNY TWISTING IN THE WIND?

We reported several weeks ago that big changes could be coming to the Commanders front office after the draft, but there were no specifics as to who might stay and who might go.

The current scuttlebutt in league circles is that V.P. of football operations Vinny Cerrato could be out as soon as right after the draft, and as late as the end of the season -- if the team doesn't win at least 10 games in 2007.

Cerrato was fired by the Commanders during the Marty Schottenheimer era, but was brought back by owner Daniel Snyder after Schottenheimer was cut loose after only one season.

Some league insiders thought that current coach Joe Gibbs would have run Cerrato off by now, but Vinny has made it through three seasons under the Hall-of-Famer.

Frankly, we're not sure why Cerrato should be held accountable for anything, since the widespread belief is that Snyder and Gibbs are the ones calling the shots.

The writing has been on the wall since the opener in 2006. It was obvious that Snyder had bigger plans for Tom Cruise.

That may be true, but I don't want them upsetting whatever dysfunctional balance they have.

Why do it right after the draft? That makes no sense.

If he had to go it should have been right after their season ended.....which was around week 6. ;)

He is an idiot IMO, but I say let him leave!! let Dan try and run the organization without any sanity and pick up terrible players with horrible contracts like Randel El. Bring it on!

By the way, I heard on a D.C. station that they are planning on building A NEW Commanders STADIUM! I mean they just moved in to this one!?! I think it's because the impending BEST STADIUM EVER from Jerrah is going to make little danny jealous... I've been to Commanders stadium before, it is terrible, they on't even have ramps for the disabled it is so horrible

I'm pretty sure PFT is late to the dance on this one.

I believe it has alerady been decided and announced that Cerrato would be out of the loop after this draft. This is his last hurrah - I'm almost positive.

Amen, if it's broke, please don't let 'em fix it.

Unless Little Napoleon fires himself, it won't help.

:D

Commanders. All the ineptitude of the Raiders without the senility excuse.

As long as shorty remains firmly in control of the Skins I am goinn to be smiling about that franchise.

I don't think the Cerrato move matters any more than I think Wade's drafting past does.

Neither guy actually drafts anyone. Not sure either is even half listened to when they discuss talent. I could see both guys sitting at the kids table on draft day while the adults(i.e. owners) did the picking.

...and Greg Williams, he was for sure the guy calling the shots on signing Carter and Archuletta last year
