Cowboys at Patriots

Florio’s take: The Cowboys are getting healthy just in time to face their stiffest challenge of the year. The Patriots are riding a 19-game regular-season winning streak at home, and the Cowboys simply aren’t ready to blow a lead or choke in the clutch against a team as good as the Patriots.

Florio’s pick: Patriots 34, Cowboys 20.

Rosenthal’s take: Tom Brady got his revenge on Rex Ryan last week. Now Brady tries to get Rob Ryan back for the beatdown the Browns put on the Patriots last year. The Patriots defense gives up a ton of yards, but they have played well in the red zone and forced timely turnovers. Translation: Expect to see “Bad Tony” at some point.

Rosenthal’s pick: Patriots 34, Cowboys 24.

Is it just me or is what Florio said (I bolded it above) an actual compliment? Now I know he may have intended to say are not to a point where they can avoid doing it but I still found it funny.

Also the Bad Tony reference .. First it was "Bad Rex" now "Bad Tony" .. I don't mind the negative references but couldn't they be a little more creative than just recycling "bad"? I mean go with the "Ohno Romo" or "Uhoh Romo" or even a Scooby Doo RutRoh Romo(tm) reference :D

He's saying they're not good enough to get a lead to blow like that.

I don't see that at all .. I see what he likely meant negative wise and I mentioned that in my post .. then again, I'm not driven by hatred of the Cowboys so my bad.

I'm not driven by hatred either. I'm reading what he said. They're not ready to blow a lead to the Patriots. Meaning they aren't good enough to have a lead to blow.

That's how I take it. His prediction on the score only backs up what I'm saying.

So, the Cowboys, one of the best offensive teams in football since Garrett took over, are playing against one of the worst defenses in football and you think he's saying they are not good enough to get a lead?

Despite how you pessimistic you are about the game, that just goes against all logic and common sense. Say they will lose, fine. Say they will give up a lot points, fine. But to assume they cannot get a lead in the game just does not make sense.

I'm saying that he's saying they won't have a big lead to blow in the 2nd half like they did with the Jets and Lions.

There's simply no other logical conclusion to what he said.

He definitely forgot a "not" somewhere in there.

He's saying the Cowboys aren't ready to NOT blow a lead or NOT choke in the clutch.

I'm not sure if you're saying this because you can't understand or because you have some axe to grind, but it's pretty obvious, at least to me, that he's saying the Cowboys aren't ready to be clutch "enough" to beat the Pats.

I have no axe to grind. I'm simply reading what he said and then looking at the rest and his prediction.

"the Cowboys simply aren’t ready to blow a lead or choke in the clutch against a team as good as the Patriots"

They're not ready to blow a lead or choke in the clutch against "a team as good as" the Patriots because they aren't good enough to be in that position against this team.

That's not what I'm saying. That's what he's saying. Pretty clearly, too.
