The Bills were a little desperate for a quarterback in the spring, when they agreed to trade the Vikings for Matt Cassel. The Cowboys were even more desperate for one this week, and gave up a similar package.

According to Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com, the Cowboys acquired Cassel and the Bills’ 2017 seventh-rounder in exchange for their 2017 fifth-rounder.

In March, the Bills sent the Buccaneers’ 2015 fifth-round pick (acquired in a previous trade) and their own 2016 seventh-rounder for the Vikings’ 2015 sixth-round pick.

The Bills were going to deal Cassell at some point this year, more teams are going to be losing QB's so I think Dallas made the deal before it got to late in the season.

I'd like to know why he hasnt been able to succeed in those places. If he was in need of a better supporting cast then maybe he can do well here,,,

Because he's a backup. Was a backup at USC, never started in College. He's just good enough to get you by but not good enough to be the man. He ain't got the intangibles to lead men to battle.

In a couple months we might trade him for a better pick if a contender loses their QB
You just never know what can happen
Heck Weeden may shine these next few weeks and Cassel never see the field

amazing that people will complain about losing a 5th rounder in 2017 when you desperately need a QB.

5th round pick means little to nothing to me. Ryan Russell, Devin Street, and Joseph Randle were all pretty good picks. But before them was Danny Coale, Josh Thomas, and David Buehler. I don't think any of those guys are in the league anymore. O-Scan was a great 5th round pick, but he was probably their only really good pick in 20 years in the 5th round.

Well, it's not exactly like the Chiefs, Vikings and Bills were contending teams when he came on board. He, however, did do well with the Patriots when Brady was injured.

I know a lot of people don't like the signing, but I think it's a shrewd move by the Cowboys. Dallas is not going to lean on Weeden, Moore or Cassel that much.

All they need is a quarterback who can manage the game, make a few first down throws and maybe an occasional deep throw to keep the defense honest.

The Cowboys are going to lean heavily on their defense, the offensive line and the running game.

We don't need any of Romo's backups to be Romo. We need them to be the ultimate bus drivers.
