Last week, Peter King of SI.com shared a hilarious story regarding the efforts of Saints coach Sean Payton to finagle an expensive bottle of wine at an Indianapolis restaurant the night before the Cowboys could get their mitts on it.
Our pal Todd Wright of Sporting News Radio had one of the waitresses from St. Elmo's on his show recently. She confirmed the incident, and she added some more details.
She said that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had not expressly reserved the last bottle of the wine in question, but the staff knew from past experience that it is one of the wines Jones likes.
When Payton ordered the wine, he wasn't told that Jones and the Cowboys' entourage was coming to the restaurant the next night, or that Jones may have wanted that wine. Payton later learned of Jones' likely interest in the wine, and then Payton decided to autograph the label and leave the bottle for Jones.
The bottle won't be headed to the Hall of Fame any time soon; after it was left for the Cowboys, someone knocked the bottle over and broke it.

You might recall the story from the NFL Scouting Combine in which New Orleans coach Sean Payton took a bottle of wine Jerry Jones reserved at St. Elmo Steakhouse in Indianapolis.
Manny Pacquiao just gave Jones the bottle Caymus Special Selection as a gift before his public workout at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine.
Payton left a message on the bottle as well, reminding Jones of the Saints' win over Indianapolis in Super Bowl XLIV.
This bottle did not appear to have any messages from Pacquaio but Top Rank promoter Bob Arum knows how to get on Jones' good side. He called the Cowboys the greatest team in the world.
