The Cowboys won’t have right tackle Doug Free on Monday night as Free continues to recover from a small fracture in his right foot.

That will make two straight games on the sideline for Free, who was expected to miss three or four weeks when the injury was originally diagnosed. On Saturday, though, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that things have been progressing well enough that the team thinks he has a shot of returning to action next week.

“We’ll see how he is next week when we start off on Wednesday and we’ll go from there,” Garrett said, via the Dallas Morning News. “Initially it was a three or four week type thing. He traditionally heals fast. He’s a tough guy and we feel like he’s coming back relatively well.”

Jermey Parnell started for Free last week and gave the Cowboys little reason to feel any pain from Free’s absence as the line was a big reason for a 31-21 victory over the Giants...

Let's keep getting healthy, especially in the trenches. DLAW should be back next week as well

I am actually enjoying watching Free more and more and hope he has a healthy season for the balance of the year. I also love the way the young guys look at him. Until this year I had no idea he wielded that influence on our O Line. Go get em Daddy Free.

I'd say keep Free on the bench this week. Gives Parnell another chance to show us what he's got, and it allows Free another week of rest to prepare for the real challenge - the Cards.

He shouldn't. Rest up and get healthy for the post-Bye push. That schedule right before and after Thanksgiving is weird. Two games in four days and then another Thursday game, then basically a mini-Bye.

I looked at it like the NFL is trying to balance it out since the Cowboys always get the "mini bye" by sandwiching the Thanksgiving day game with two road games. It won't matter. They will be ready to play.

What is even more fishy is the short weeks are all before the Eagles Games

I like Parnell as well. Kid is a road grader.

If he's got more than a ten cent head...........we're golden.

Many of his mistakes are from lack of experience whether its staying on combo block too long, coming out of his stance a hair late, he is a little more heavy footed which can give him problems setting up on quick pass rushers. The plus is he is more athletic, he is unpolished and I think that is why he has not unseated Free yet. That is to be expected since he has not played a lot of football in his life.
