PFT: Emmitt's biggest problem is a lack of prep

Reminds me of a teacher I had in high school. We use to keep score on the more bizarre sayings that came up while he was lecturing (too bad I lost the book; the inside cover was full).

Here are just a couple of his gems:
  • burglary: to enter by a process of going through a window
  • John F K (the 35th president of the U.S)
Maybe Emmit had the same teacher.

But the three best I've heard in recent memory (as close as I can get it):
  • Magic Johnson (color analysis on an NBA game): you don't want him to be the man to be tooken the shot to beat you
  • Cheryl Miller (on an NBA draft pick): his game is well (end of sentence)
  • unknown: make no doubt what the plan is
The spoken word is a beautiful thing. Sometimes.

I do a lot of public speaking -- what I've learned over the years is that if you PREPARE -- and that means practicing things you will say -- even practicing responses to various questions -- that you will perform far far better. Right now Emmitt sounds like he just shows up and talks.

I agree and respect the post because you state that ps is something yo do.

He seems nervous though. If he doesnt relax then praticing will only help so much or maybe not at all. He gets amped up like he is going into a game.

As bad as Emmitt was on NFLN, I was shocked that he was hired by ESPN. He's a bit better, but not as much. Hell, why we're at it, Keyshawn isn't very good either. That bit with him and The Tuna going back and forth is terrible. Woodson should have got the bump-up and/or Mike Irvin should have stayed.

Woodson is very good whenever he's on, which explains why espn doesn't give him more air time. There is no place for level-headed, logical analysis at espn.

I agree. I would like to see more of Woodson and Young and a lot less of Keyshawn and Emmitt.

smith lack of preparation? he sured look prepared when he was doing dancing with the stars.

Have u seen Emmitts Wife? I wouldnt have time to prep as well!!!!

Anyway, just keep Emmitt out of the "boof"...do not let him into the "boof" again!

Poor Emmitt.
As a fellow broadcaster I can euthanize with Emmitt. Let me tell you, when that red light goes on it is time to pay the madame, well it's no walk in the cake.
I know, it's not rocket surgery, but it takes skill and acumen to make a gud broadcaster. It takes prep work, a knockage of words and denunciation.
I say give the Diamond another chance and let him shine!
