Our buddy Todd Wright of Sporting News Radio has alerted us to an item in the Indianapolis Star regarding the Colts’ new stadium, which opens next month.

Some of the seats have, to put it mildly, an obstructed view. Who designed the place, a drunken fifth-grader?

There are alot of stadiums that are like that, with columns and beams obstructing views. Now they aren't as extreme as the picture, but the old RFK had seats that were similar. Some baseball stadiums I have been to are like that too.

I do question the intelligence of someone actually bothering to install the seats back there if they will never be sold.

You are right, somewhere drugs were involved.

Actually the article stated they will be sold

"The partically-obstructed seats will be sold, but not as a season ticket and only after all other tickets are sold."

No problem. You by those seats for peanuts and move to empty seats when people don't show up.

The picture showed the fully obstructed seats. And they will not be sold, per the article in the Indianapolis Star.

And the article above, which is what I was referring to, did not mention anything about the status of the seats. It just made fun of the layout and the use of shock value was obvious. It was a tabloid report, but that is par for the course.

A lot of older stadiums are like that. To have that happen in a 21st century facility is mindboggling. The only possible explanation is that they put them in so that the folks in the row behind would have cupholders.

They should just use those seats for the little kids and drunks that sleep through the games anyway.

Best seats in the house

It's been a rough couple of week for Indianapolis' new Lucas Oil Stadium. A nasty rainstorm caused some damage and then there's this story about obstructed view seats from the Indianapolis Star.

The Cowboys new stadium may have some obstructed view seats, I'm told, but nothing like sitting behind a steel pole. If you were the workers putting those seats in, wouldn't you ask the boss, 'Are we serious? We want seats here?'

The Colts, however, aren't selling those seats directly behind the pole. Good for them.
