Tito, you need some tissue?
Tito, you need some tissue?
What's strange to me is that even after JG got the team around the corner after three years of 8-8 and rightfully got a new contract, a number of people are miffed that JJ is sticking with him. Their logic? He had three years to get it done and all he got us was 8-8. Never mind that he succeeded this year. Never mind that he was changing the structure of a team that was long in the tooth, in a poor situation financially (cap-wise) and mired in mediocrity win/loss-wise. Never mind that he was changing the culture of a team that had an undeserved sense of entitlement. Never mind that if those very same people were to evaluate themselves in their own career fields and honestly answered the question of "am I better at my job in year four than I was in year one, two, or three?". Personally, I would look at my employer as a buffoon if he told me "yea, you did very well this year, but you weren't as good as I wanted you to be the first couple of years, therefore I'm letting you go". Who gives a damn what the results were in the past? That's water under the bridge. All I know is what JG has led this team to be at this point in time and where I'm pretty sure they are headed in the future. Some people need to follow JG's example of letting go of the past and looking to the future. They'd be a lot happier as fans.

People measure him relative to their own expectations for those seasons, and most people set expectations by what they want to happen rather than what's likely to happen.
Yeah. That's what fans are for.
Right.
Speaking of which...... I cant freaking beleive the Replay Official didnt see the defenders leg trip up Dez, after he had control of the ball, which stopped Dezs momentum from going into the endzone....... ???? How could you NOT see that??? ...............................and..................................................
never. I will never let it go.
He was into to minutia of the rule book, rather than simply seeing if the sideline official had " blown the call"
Garrett is right. People live in the past too much. Eyes forward, and move ahead.
I've taken that approach with Garrett all along. Mistakes made, yes. But the culture was changing and the roster was being rebuilt. Play on, and don't look back.
Way to into . .................His own superiority on the subject of catching the football.. Thought an Awful lot of himself.
Right.

It all sounds great. letting this screw job go like nothing happen. but this is the biggest screw job in NFL history. and to just let go like this is an insult to guys like Romo and Witten, and cowboys fans all over the world. and yes the media likes it. because they like that the cowboys lost and are out of the playoffs. and they like that Garrett and Jerry, are just sitting back taking this BS with no outrage.
Great message. Mostly applies to the young players who are the majority on the team. Cold comfort for Romo and Witten who were robbed of their best chance at postseason glory
How do you know will not be their best opportunity?
I don't know that in the future. But thus far it was in their 12 years.
They only have a couple of years left.
Things broke well for the team this season.
I don't think we will have a bad team next year, but neither will the Eagles or Giants.
This year was special - offensively we were unusually healthy and defensively we overachieved.
Romo may not make it through another full season - you never know.
JMO but something tells me Romo and Witten will not get this close again.
Hope I'm wrong.
I have the same fear.....
But refuse to acknowledge it ....
I think we need to bring in a backup next year that can Win games... a legitimate backup. Romo is going to need his "breaks"....
What good is it going to do to bring in good back-ups or not? the BS the NFL pulled this past week ruined any faith i had in the best team winning. they stole that game from Dallas. and i am still pissed.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett earned the right to retain that title by breaking out of the team’s perpetual 8-8 slump with a division title. But the words he gave his team after their season ended might show best why he’s the best man for the job. With the Cowboys stinging from their season-ending Dez Bryant catch/not catch, Garrett sent his team into the offseason with a poignant message.
“I thought our coach’s comments to the team were salient and telling,” owner Jerry Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He told the story of a man 65 that hurt his leg when he was 22 and had to quit. But for 40 years he would tell the story of how he hurt his leg when he was 22. He told the story of a baseball player that thought he was going to be the next Sandy Koufax, but he hurt his arm and for 50 years told that story. He said, ‘I don’t want anybody in this room to spend the rest of their lives talking about, ‘But, if this … ’ Jason said, ‘Let’s get out here and do what we need to do, so we got something good to talk about 50 years from now.’”
Garrett echoed that message later, saying he didn’t want his team wallowing in self-pity.
