News: PFT: Jerry Jones: Jason Garrett is not on shaky ground

Some Garrett supporters here are going to be shocked at how happy the vast majority of Cowboys fans are going to be when Jason finally loses his job. Most of the casual fans don't complain on message boards, but they sure do talk in private and with friends and relatives. I think Jerry used to believe that the average fans didn't mind Jason being HC, but now he's starting to see the light.
 
Playoffs 3 of the last 5 years and two wildcard round wins, a team that is the youngest in the NFL and has a big upward arrow... he shouldn't be on shaky ground.

Problem is our fan base is still so pissed with the black hole that was 2010 through 2013 and Can't seem to realize that it took Garrett time to build this team.

With a new more aggressive OC next year and a few FA moves this team will have its shot to compete....if Garrett pulls an 8-8 Or worse then we will know it's time for a change if simply just to get a fresh face in.
 
No owner/GM with good sense wants to suggest his HC is on the hot seat.

Most of the time, that comes mainly due to unfortunate circumstances. :rolleyes:

If Jason Garrett & Co. were to have an outlandishly inept season, well . . .

For the record it will NOT be a make it or break it year for Garrett.

It never will "make sense" when Garrett goes. The man is here for the quite seeable future.

2011-2012-2015-2017-2018 seasons were all "break it" years and the man keeps truckin along.

If Jerry is sitting in traffic listening to 105.3 or whatever station that is giving me hope. This couldnt be the first time he has been hearing about changes this team needs. There is an old saying that says if you dont know what to do then dont do anything yet. I think thats where Jerry is on Jason. Jason just needs one more season to fail and its coming.

John Fox in Denver went 8-8. 13-3, 13-3, 12-4, and was fired! Denver wins the SB the following season. Sometimes change is what a team needs. I think its over due in Dallas.

Most of us will probably be disappointed when Jerry picks his replacement as well. After fantasizing about big names and "hot" young coaches, Jerry is more likely to resurrect a ghost of head coaches past - someone he knows who makes him feel comfortable.

The problem is at the top. Garrett is just the current manifestation of it.

Interesting observation. I am not trying to be argumentative, but that's exactly what happens in most companies - managers are often put on the "hot seat" to deliver certain, specific results and, if they don't, someone else is brought in as a replacement.

"Experience" is an interesting way to now describe JG. I sometimes get the feeling that he has 1 year of experience 10 times over. Just feeling a bit ornery this morning

I find it both hysterical and ridiculous.

Jerry couldn't fire him before because he hadn't had enough experience and time in the chair, now he can't fire him because he would "lose all that experience"?

Why would anyone purposefully say that one of their players/coaches are on faulty ground? Garrett must be in some kind of trouble if Jerry addressed it. I hate to say this and I'd hate for another year to go to waste, but, Dallas may need to just play terribly. Just stop. It's better in the long run. Imagine if we had continued on our 3-5 downfall. Garrett would've most likely been out of here by now, like Linehan. But no, the players saved Garrett again.
 
What I truly hope is happening here is that Jerry Jones is just trying to get out ahead of any "lame duck head coach" and "hot seat" or "shaky ground" talk because he's not extending Jason Garrett. If that's what actually happens, I can better accept whatever meaningless rhetoric that comes out of Jones' mouth. Say whatever you want, just don't had out big contracts locking your team into anything.

I've said numerous times, if that's what's happening, I can not only accept it, but I can respect it. Do things on your teams when your job is on the line. Hire whoever you want. Take back playcalling. Succeed or fail on your own merits, because of your own decisions. Go down swinging. Or score a huge extension doing things your way.

But I'll be pissed if this simply leads to an unearned extension before anything is won, and just more of the same.
 
this is garrett last year unless they go deep in the playoffs so he better change up what he does

I couldn't agree more . . . but factually, that's not always the case with the Cowboys.

Jerry's been known to say the opposite of his intent when it comes to firing coaches.

He violated the truth with HC Campo and with Phillips, saying he had no such plans.

Some want to keep their intentions untold to prevent neutering the HCs to the team.
