JERRY JONES SAY HOCHULI IS “HIGHLY CRITICIZED”

Although the general action in media and fan circles seems to be that referee Ed Hochuli deserves a break despite his badly blown call in Sunday’s game between the Chargers and the Broncos, our own MDS has pointed out that one of the league’s most influential owners is singing a different tune.
“That particular official gets a lot of criticism,” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

Ouch.

“He’s a highly criticized official in the NFL.”

Double ouch.

If Hochuli has that reputation in league circles, that reputation has never made its way outside of league circles. Until now.

But don’t look for Jones to be fined for his comments. As NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told us on Monday, fines are imposed only when criticizes the integrity of officiating. In this case, Jones is simply saying that Hochuli gets criticized a lot.

In other words, Jones isn’t questioning Hochuli’s integrity — he’s criticizing his ability.

Still, we have a feeling that there will be more to this story.

Yup, first thing that came to my mind. Would hate to see him working a Cowboy playoff game.

Got a point there. I've never subscribed to the refs are against us but they sure as heck didn't call any holds last nite. I guess they did decide to 'let them play'. If so we didn't get the message and Philly did.

Sure they did. They did miss a couple (on them and us) but they also missed the easy horse collar tackle on Barber, butchered that PI on Henry and missed an easy holding call on the td pass to Westbrook.

Will agree on the PI with Henry & the Westbrook TD, but that was not a horse collar on Barber, you must pull the player down backwards for it to be a horse collar. I don't remember any missed face masks on us, but I do remember 2 that were missed for the Eagles.

The calls went both ways last night.

NBA fans might be able to relate to this, but Ed Hochuli reminds me way too much of Dick Bavetta. I'm certainly not talking about body types either. It just sort of feels like both guys like to be the show.
