Jerry Jones: We will do better if Tyron Smith can’t play Sunday night

...

“I’d like to hope that Tyron is back,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas on Tuesday. “But I’ll assure you that we will have that, if Tyron is not back, we will personnel-wise as well as technique wise, we will do better.”

...

“I think that we didn’t, we’ve got a term we say, ‘block them up,’ which almost sounds trite,” Jones said. “We just did not, not only assess, but execute as we would like to. And I think Jason Witten said it the best. It was a total zeroing in on one player, but it was a team concern, or a total team production activity that created it. Blocking takes a lot of people and it takes trying to get more hats on them so to speak than they’ve got on defense. And we weren’t able to get it done.”

...

“We’ve assessed it pretty good, got a handle around technically what went wrong,” Jones said. “They play what we call a ‘wide nine’ technique, which basically puts those ends way outside, both of their defensive ends way outside. We don’t see that much. And we probably, on hindsight, will have probably alternate how we handle that if we had it to do over again.”

It gives me a headache trying to read Jerry's words. Just come out and say "We have to block better" instead of trying to sound super educated or whatever the hell he is trying to do.

Exactly..... This is football, grown man sport, no sugar coating, play ball or go home. 16 games play all out.

P.S. Our coaching staff suck.

Our DC Marinelli won 10 games as HC....

1st year 3-13
2nd year 7-9
3rd year 0-16, but he's our defensive coordinator :lmao2:

Our OC Linehan won 11 games which was no better

1st year 8-8
2nd year 3-13
3rd year 0-4 :banghead:

Marinelli is getting to much credit for Tampa 2 when that was Monte Kiffin running that D

I think what he's saying is expect the OL as a unit and our pass protection as a whole to play better. Whether or not that will be enough to beat the Eagles ........who's know, I agree with Jerry. In others words, the coaches did a poor job preparing the team for Smith absence last week. Highly possible we can play better and lose........to be honest I'm more concern about losing Lee than Smith

I mean we pretty much gave that other guy 750,000 so can't be much worse. I wonder if he will send Chaz a commission check.

They play wide 9 and we don't see that much.

really Jerry? So how much tape did you actually watch for the Atlanta Falcons?

You hear stuff like this and you realize why this team's been floundering for 20 years
It's like our coaches never account for what the other team is going to do. Even after a half of watching it being done.

I read it to mean “we BETTER do better if Tyron can’t play.” A message to the coaches, I hope.

I spent the whole 2015 season screaming why are we trying to run between the tackles against the stack defense I spent the entire first half screaming that on Sunday.
But I still can't get over the fact that in the third quarter they started pulling people and running outside, Atlanta had nothing to stop it and yet we just quit because that's not Linehan's thing.

It just brings me back to how much Authority ginger has I mean when you're running over and over again and getting nowhere against the stack defense you have to make a change.
When your quarterback is getting raped all you got to do is make some changes, roll him out, option, bootleg.

When Rod was running his Rush 3 and give the quarterback 10 seconds to throw how is that allowed to continue
I mean as head coach when all you got to do is sit there and watch and absorb what's going on you got to make adjustments does red not have the ability to do that?
Either he doesn't or he is the stupidest coach in the history of football.

I bet the convo goes something a little like this...*halftime*

Linehan: 'Garrett, they're killing my LT out there. What do you suppose we do?'

Garrett: *blank, soulless look* 'um... *fumbles around awhile looking in man purse trying to find his great coaches quotation book*

Linehan: 'um I have to go and prep my guys for the 2nd half. I'll see you after the game'.

It would be awfully hard to do much worse. How often does 1 player give up 5 sacks to one guy?

And pray that the Eagles don't actually come up with anything different.
Yep. Because we’ll probably have to suffer thru the entirety of that. As good as this team is, we are incapable at times of adjustments.

Once again, the adjustment(s) comes midweek as opposed to midgame game. Game after game, week after week and year after year.......

The more things change, the more they stay the same Sarge....Jerry is a slow learner. He likes the great year, terrible year cycle....
