The Cowboys didn't wear numbers or names on their jerseys for a Sunday scrimmage at AT&T Stadium, so it wasn't always easy for media members watching the action to tell which players were on the field. One thing they have been able to tell is that wide receiver Amari Cooper hasn't been seeing a lot [more]

This shows MM is very cautious of his players playing time. Unlike Pederson who has yet another player out 3 to 4 weeks.

McCarthy will have this team ready. Cooper got a lot of reps early on and they have backed that down some towards the end of camp. I know in the conference after the scrimmage he talked or trying to get the reps at 60/40 between starters and backups as they get closer to cut downs.

McCarthy and the Cowboys staff know exactly what they have in Amari Cooper. They are also are only too well aware of the lingering problems that he's had with his persistent foot issues in the past. Getting off to a fast start appears to be a key component to this team's success in 2020.

Being conservative with his reps at this stage of camp seems likely to be a good safeguard to ensure that he enters into the early season in good health. How he performs in the first several games will be crucial to this team's start. His early performances in camp were predictably encouraging.

Not to mention that he and Dak are familiar with each other already, so the timing and such is less of a concern.

Maybe they should have added a reflective face shield to hide the faces. That would have got the media real good.
I mean how do you then tell if it is Looney or Zeke. :lmao2:

sorry, don't have that pics of them to post to compare

At least, we had the satisfaction of learning that the other NFL teams and their fans dealt with the same secrecy we did. ;)

Hopefully, that unfortunate situation won't become a permanent scenario in the future. If so, that'd be terribly disappointing!

Of course, we can't help but wonder if that procedure might become the newfound accepted way of doing things going forward.

If it is, there will be many fans not paying attention to the preseason. So viewers will go down. Sponsorships at risk possibly. It will take a few years or so to determine that.

Good thinking. The preseason, as we knew it in the past, would likely become a thing of the past. NFL ownership surely wouldn't appreciate that in the least. A great source of their revenue would be woefully eliminated. I'm sure that'll give 'em something to think about.

Jerry is coming up in ten minutes on the fan. This is their big topic they want to ask him about because it seems odd he isnt practicing.

We also do not know how many reps he is getting when the media isn’t around.

Yes I will miss the updates but I will not have a problem with it as adds a little security to what schemes, packages and such you might put in a game plan. It is a well documented fact that Jimmy Johnson was watching television a few games before the SB and seen a news report from the Bills practice. In the background he noticed them practicing a shovel pass and immediately reached out to Dave Wannstedt and asked if he had seen any shovel passes from the Bills in tape, Dave said no and Jimmy said we’ll they are going to run one so let’s be prepared.

The Bills did run a shovel pass to Dennis Thurman and Leon Lett was ready and blow the play up. Hit, tackle, fumble and returned for a TD by James Washington.

Now I know that is the extreme but I totally get being very very cautious in a very competitive sport where that play can win or lose a game.

listening to mccarthy it sure sounded like he was going out of his way to say cooper is injured without saying cooper is injured. It was a very jerry like answer.
