APAt a time when signs of real optimism finally are beginning to emerge regarding a labor deal that would allow the season to start on time, Daniel Kaplan of SportsBusiness Journal reports that the NFL is planning for a season that would be as short as eight games.

An eight-game season would begin in late November, with a whopping five weeks allowed for free agency, training camps, and maybe a single preseason game. This would require a deal to be reached in October.

I would just say that the US and USSR had war plans for invading and defending from an invasion from nearly every approach imaginable. Having the plans just doesn't mean that they plan or expect that to be the outcome.

(this also bothers me when players said the owners had the lockout plans all ready, maybe so, but if an agreement had been reached the owners would not have locked anyone out. You ALWAYS make worst case preparations, doesn't mean you hope to or want to use those worst case plans.)

Are YOU ready for a half season of FOOOOOOTBALL!

The fewer times I have to hear Hank Williams, Jr. the better is about the only good thing with an 8 game schedule.

It's worse case scenario plans. Nothing to get your panties in a bunch over yet.

In my mind, worst case scenario is NO season at all.
They don't have plans for that.

Not ones involving football anyway.

I love it when the first sensible post in a thread the quiets all of the misconstrued teeth gnashing is the second in the thread. Well done.

I happen to agree.... most of this kind of talk is hyperbole to help move the negotiating along.

Weak.

But, if you're the type that thinks Dallas tanks in December all the time, this could work to the Cowboys' advantage......

Of course the first week in February would be the equivalent of the first week in December, meaning a crushing SuperBowl defeat.

They had figure all this stuff out.

8 game season doesn't interest me at all.
